The Indian film industry churns out 1000s of films every year, some are declared as hits, some are blockbusters, some are average and some flop, sink without a trace.

But often some of these "flop" films have some good songs which are forgotten initially but sometimes by chance it makes them worthwhile to listen to them again, just to get the taste of good Indian music.

Can you recall some of the songs form these flop films which still make for good listening today?

There were many flop movies with good songs, almost countless. But I shall try to name some from 2009; Delhi-6 had nice music, Billu barbar, Chandni chowk to china (tere naina), Kurbaan (shukranallah), Main aur ms Khanna (dont say alvida), Kambaqt ishq, etc.
All these had good music, I am not saying excellant but really worth listening.

naam zaraa likhna song from "yahaan" is also melodious.

BTW today in my car I was playing an FM channel and it broadcasted a song-sung by alka yagnik called "pyaar ke liye chaar pal kam nahi the" etc.., IIRC the lyrics.

Heard the song maybe for the first time or maybe years before, any idea from which movie?

I think it is from "Yeh dil kya kare", of ajay devgan, kajol & mahima. Wherein I guess kajol is singing this song!

1942: A love Story was a flop but its songs are immortal
That's the best example I guess
Apart from that Pukaar had nice songs, so did Yaadein, Mian prem ki deewani hoon, Billu barber, kartik calling kartik...and all were flops

I didn't think that 1942 was a flop, in fact it was highly acclaimed at its time. Songs, yes, one of the best ever.

Dil se did not do well in India but was a critically acclaimed hit abroad with chartbusting tracks from A.R.Rehman.

I thought you were talkinga bout the box office. The movie did not do well at the box office. Commercial and critical acclaim are 2 different things.
