ok this post is just a doubt i had...
as far as i know we shudnt be doing lip sync during pantomime...thats the dance form...that u express without words...thru actions, expressions...i guess thats how it originated too from silent movies etc
google def says "pantomime is the art of using movement and facial expressions rather than primarily the spoken word to communicate."
then why was dharmesh doing lip sync today in his act in that section and why was it not pointed out by anyone?...or is it that my understanding is wrong?
this is a genuine doubt and not a comment on dharmesh's performance...wud appreciate ur responses

As far as I know..you are SPOT ON!
I thought you do not lip sync in pantomime acts? Maybe there is a special type of pantomime where lip sync is allowed? Maybe something like hip hop and lyrical hip hop which are similar yet different.

He should've taken a few tips from Vrushali as her pantomime act was amazingg! I don't think any other similar performance can even come close to her act.

Yipee you are right!
As far as I know, lip-synching is a no-no in pantomime!
Everythign is dependent on expressions!
Maybe Terence pointed it out and it was edited out?

I just got his info from the link below..

The difference between mime and pantomime
There were basically two differences between the Roman mime and pantomime. Firstly, the themes of the pantomimes were heavier and loftier and, secondly, pantomime actors wore masks. The mask effectively limited an actor's expressions. He could not speak dialogues or make use of facial expressions and had to depend on hand movements.

The actors were usually dressed in a cloak and long tunic and generally performed solo, with music as an accompaniment. But the music was considered more a prop than anything else. The skill of the actor was valued the most. A successful pantomime actor often enjoyed the patronage of the royalty. Emperor Nero was a patron of the pantomime art.

In other wesites also it is said that Mime uses expressions whereas Pantomime uses masks and the expressions are not thru face but thru posture and body movements 😕 ...
