I will be married in 2-3 years: Divyanka Tripathi

TV actress Divyanka Tripathi is very excited about her upcoming serial Mr and Mrs Sharma, which will be aired on SAB TV. Ever since the promos have been on-air she is overwhelmed with the response. She is television's one of the most sobbing Bahu but now she's back with loads of laughter. In a candid interview she spoke about her new serial, her Bahu image and marriage.

Tell us about your upcoming serial Mr and Mrs Sharma.
Mr and Mrs Sharma is a story of Allahabad family comprising of the couple, their son and Mr Sharma's sister. Mrs Sharma loves her husband a lot. According to others it is the dumb family but they believe they are the most intelligent ones around. In fact Mrs Sharma is proud of her husband who she believes is genius.

How has it been so far?
As of now we have only shot for the promos and I have got really good response for it. Best thing that came as compliment to me that people could not recognize me in the promos for the first time when they saw. Later they were surprised to know that it's me.

Did you accept this role to break your bahu image?
Honestly, it is not so. I was on a break and was looking for something exciting that I have never done before. It is not about breaking image it's about what I wanted to do. Whatever I see on TV these days I believe I have done almost all of it so I took up comedy, which I had never attempted. I can't just keep playing the same kinds of role by improvising on it.

How did you bag the role?
I had given the audition for another comedy serial for the same channel but that could not happen. But they remembered me and proposed my name for the role when they were coming up with this. In fact when I went to their office they directly narrated me the script. Trust me I had a hearty laugh while listening only to the narration and then and there I was convinced that audience would like it too and I took up the offer.

Do you look at it as challenge, as you are doing comedy for the first time?
Of course, I am very nervous but at the time I am equally excited as well. Once Rajesh my co-star will be back we will commence the shoots and I am looking forward to it.

How has been your experience with Allahabadi's in real life?
I have many relatives who are from Allahabad. Trust me after watching me in the serial they are all going to call me to say that I have been imitating them in the serial. Also my driver is Allahabadi and he often shies away from me.

You were recently seen dancing in Rahul Ka Swayamwar, are you looking forward to dance reality shows?
Dancing is just a passing thing for me. I have a back problem so I can't put myself to so much of exertion but when Saroj Khanji was to choreograph us in the show I was looking forward to learning all of it that she had to offer. Otherwise I am not much in to reality shows and reality dramas.

So you mean you will not be seen in reality shows?
Idea of reality show does not impress me much at this point of time. While I was on a break, many such offers came to me but I turned it down, as I was so keen on doing it. As of now I want to be a part of good serials and do good work.

You have been TV's favourite Bahu and now as Mrs Sharma you will be playing a wife so your family ever pressurize for married?
No, they are very supportive of it. In fact they have allowed me to remain unmarried as long as I want to be.

Will you be married in next five years?
5 years! It's too long. I am looking forward to be married within 2-3 years with lot of fanfare.
