I'm SO glad. I hope one day this surname change, and karva chauth and other such rituals would be regarded as wrong as Sati.
But considering that's what Mahi wants (from the Ishan episode) I made this topic.
Umm...actually I have this bad habit of watching atleast 3-4 shows at a time. So I might have missed something, and perhaps that's why I can't get your point. What exactly does Mahi "want"?
As long as they are not forced, I don't find anything wrong in changing your name if that is your wish.
Well, if a woman changes her surname after marriage, in my opinion, it's WRONG. Because it just shows that the woman is either too stupid to realize that the whole damn practice is unfair, or she is too weak to resist the pressure of the society and her in-laws. Both ways, I would lose all respect for such a woman, and in my eyes, it will always be wrong.
But thinking about the sexist notions, why should it even by Mrs. Mahi Talwar? Isn't Mrs. sexist too considering there's nothing for Mr. after marriage?
But isn't it Master for unmarried men?( I hope I'm not sounding ultra-stupid saying this). We may not be following this strictly, but I guess the proper system is Master before marriage, and Mister after it? I don't exactly know.
@Enycedoll: I'm glad you understand my POV and agree.
