Often we get to hear that there is religious discrimination in India. If there is so called discrimination then what explains this that in cricket we have so many good muslim players, in movie industry we have so many good and not so good muslim actors, choreographers, musicians, singers, directors, producers, etc. Where is the religious discrimination? In cricket it shows that if you are good and talented you get to play no matter what religion you follow. Moreover, if you follow reality shows on singing, dancing and even shows like MTV roadies and splistvilla, there you will see so many good muslim contestants.

It is on a minor scale, I guess. For example, in my school in Delhi, Christians were given a preference as far as admissions are concerned. Otherwise, you probably see all of that in rural areas and towns.

Discrimination is all over not only India - at times we even discriminate among our friends and relative on their social status and the wealth

Not in the fields of entertainment (movies and reality shows) and cricket. If you are talented you get picked up.

You might be talking about some convent school and there obviously preference would be different. If you look at specific religion based school for muslims like AMU etc there muslims get preference.

Oh c'mon! I studied at a roman catholic school for 8 years of my life and I definitely was not given priority. Infact I came in section #7 which was 'Other-does not meet any criteria'. e.g. baptism, confirmation, visits church weekly etc. Therefore, non-catholics were in the minority. Although I was at a disadvantage, I still got in and even if I didn't, I would not claim I had been discriminated against. In grammar schools, do children who don't get a place have a right to say they have been discriminated against? Even if they sit the same test and some just happen to do better than them even if they both worked just as hard? :S

I get so frustrated when people complain of not having equal rights because MOST of the time, they complain just for the sake of it. Infact sometimes I feel minorities do even better than the majorities and get a lot of better opportunities where the majorities lose out.

I think Britain is the best example where despite the fact that Indians are a small minority, statistically, on average, British Indians earn more than any other ethnicity (including white british, pakistani, bengali, russian, french etc lol) Just because there are minorities, doesn't mean they are at a disadvantage.

Who said discrimination is only against muslims?
There are tons of other religions & there's discrimination between a lot of different people.

Discrimination is a long lasting issue that can hardly be resolved....where there are people there will be differences, differences would cause conciousness and jealousy which transform into what we call discrimination lol...😛

I believe as a person becomes mature and see the world in a wider scope, the tendency for discrimination will decrease (not vanish!!)...besides it comes from family value society value and stuff....
