Chennai: Bollywood glitter wane at the bidding for two new teams for Indian Premier League's (IPL) fourth edition next year.

Four of the popular stars of Hindi cinema, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Salman Khan and Saif Ali bid unsucessfully for Videocon, which was among the final list of bidders including Sahara Group, Adani Group of Ahmedabad, Amanora and Reneazvous Sportsworld of Kochi.

In all 14 people bought the tenders. While Videocon whom these stars represented put up a vain bid of USD 319.90 million, Adani USD 315 million and Amanora's USD 261.3 million were also inadequate against Sahara India's winning bid $370 million.

Thus Salman and Katrina's hopes of joining their Bollywood colleagues Shahrukh Khan (Kolkata Knight Riders), Preity Zinta (Kings XI Punjab) and Mahima Chowdhury (Mumbai Indians), in the IPL were dashed to the ground, as it were.

Meanwhile, after the bidding was over and Sahara India and Rendezvous won through, Salman and Katrina caused a flutter between security personnel and television channel newspersons. As they switched on their cameras to roll on seeing the two "intiate costars" coming down the stairs, the security personnel rushed to the waiting newspersons and warned them of removing them from the scene.

A commotion ensued as the newspersons waiting for the press conference scheduled to be addressed by IPL CEO Lalit Modi along with the winning bidders shot back strongly saying they themselves would walk out.

They were, however, politely guided to the press conference room in a five star hotel in the heart of the city where the bidding was conducted.

This is so lame. The newspersons threatened to walk out coz the security stopped them from filming Salman & Katrina?

IPL bidding is more important than 2stars.

The rich is getting richer and the poor is getting poorer 😵 And donations are done to those to charities which are already overflowing with money 😕 I wonder wen it will change!
