Jyoti & Poonam's exchange was fine, even though I still agree more w/ Poonam than w/ Jyoti: while those who are vile in themselves don't have doubts as much as they want pretexts (like CM & Pankaj), people who are onlookers will have doubts, not knowing both sides of the issue. While Pankaj had his side of the issue out there, Jyoti didn't, and ensured that it wouldn't be there. As a result, anybody, like for instance Poonam's friends, would have been forced to, just by the availability of the accounts presented, assume that Pankaj was in the right and Jyoti in the wrong. This has nothing to do so much w/ any agni-pariksha, as much as making sure that her own family is not unfairly tainted.
And while Jyoti & Poonam's exchange was fine, it got ugly once Sushma butted in. While Jyoti had valid reasons for rejecting the alimony, Sushma was totally emotional in charging Poonam w/ being obsessed w/ money, and Poonam gave her the right response: since Sushma is doing nothing and is just being idle and pregnant, it's easy for her to dismiss anybody who is thinking about how to get more money. Of course, it would help if Poonam were to volunteer to go out and work and help supplement the family income, although I daresay both Padma & Dadi would mind it, since she's the glorious bahu. 😆😆😆
And even though I have yet to watch it, well done again, Sudha... It's refreshing to see her w/ attitude - looks like in future, CM will think 10 times before crossing her. I do think it's sad that those in that house who love her - Gayatri or even Uday - won't be able to give her jewelery, since CM will have the capability in future to deprive her of it. But I'd have loved to see her hang that mangal-sutra in front of CM's face like a pendulum. Did she? 😆😆😆
Like I said in Sundara's post, Jyoti needs to get over the sindoor business - had she not been pregnant, it would be like she had never been married. She now needs to move on. I also liked Dadi starting to discuss this w/ Poonam, even if she's still just talking down to her, instead of explaining. And back to Sushma, wonder who's older - she, or the baby she's carrying? Imagine being jealous of your bhabi, when that's the only bhabi that's going to be in this house? Only thing she was right about was blaming them for not allowing her to abort that baby.
Okay, I know that CM hates Jyoti, but after all traces of Jyoti have been removed from the house, and everything recovered, why is she still after her job? Is she that determined to force the Sharmas to take alimony, so that she can say that her cash runs the Sharma household? Congratulations to Basu for pulling off what he did - just mentioning that an unnamed member of the family threatened the paper. Next time CM contacts him and he reports it, he should directly name her, being careful to record this conversation as well. Really, Bhairavi, get a life and focus on Pankaj's wedding so that you can get your ladli beti Minal back to Kesav-ji's, where he can torture her there.
And why is Pankaj surprised @ this, since he himself used his influence to make sure Jyoti doesn't get a job @ his college? Only that he used the more graceful tactic of threatening to resign himself, and his college took that to mean that he'd also stop donating, whereas in this case, CM issued a brazen, naked threat. In any case, I'm proved right - I did assume that the editor would either rebuff her directly, or report what happened in the paper. I'm guessing that CM isn't in the mood for 'whatever Sudha makes' once she's read that.
All in all, sounds like a pretty dull episode. However, tomorrow, they do catch up w/ the promo of Sushma's studying. Hopefully, Jyoti will meet her new tall hunk before too long - this time, please, no blind or other such handicapped guy, but a guy who's as handsome as Brij and as understanding as Pankaj used to be, so that Jyoti can have someone to lean on. Sorta like Brij himself in an episode in the first week of this serial, where Jyoti was overwhelmed by all the demands on her, and crying, and Brij gave her Rs1000. Too sad that that Brij had to turn out to be such a villain.
