Part 1
The judge asks Jyoti and Pankaj if they are willing to try out 6 more months. Pankaj refuses, stating that he has no desire to live with this woman.
Back @ home, Sushma asks Dadi how she managed things in school and after, and how she would have managed it? Dadi describes to her how she grew up, and the time KK was born, and how they sold their land in order to be able to afford to raise him.
Padma re-iterates to KK how it might be good to send Poonam & Deepu off on a honeymoon, given that this is the best time for that. KK is furious, and asks her is she even aware of the other things that are going on in the house, such as where Jyoti is? Padma has no clue, and KK tells her that she's gone for her divorce hearing. Padma is shocked, and the others - Poonam, Dadi and Sushma also hear this and are stunned.
Part 2
Jyoti & Pankaj are in court for the next day's session. Jyoti tells the judge that if Pankaj is unwilling to try this out, then it's no use, since it takes 2 to make it work. Pankaj's counsel tells the judge why Pankaj is unwilling to live w/ Jyoti. The counsel mentions that as per Jyoti's own admission, she has been living away from Pankaj for a year, and is now 2 months pregnant. He then has a confidential conversation w/ the judge. Pankaj is embarrassed @ what's said.
Jyoti is outraged and demands to know what was said. The counsel repeats the allegation, and Jyoti is shocked, as are Kalpana, Uday & Sudha. Kalpana challenges Pankaj to say something, since he knows what's true, while Jyoti is speechless. Kalpana asks Jyoti to speak up, but she doesn't. The judge asks Jyoti to rebut what's being said, telling her that a failure to do that would concede that she's indeed guilty of what's being alleged about her.
Kalpana then blurts out that this is a lie, and that Jyoti has only been away from Pankaj for 1 month, and that she could pull out DNA evidence demonstrating that Jyoti's baby is Pankaj's. The judge orders Kalpana to maintain silence, warning her that she'd be evicted if she continues.
Part 3
The judge then gives Jyoti a lecture on the status in which women are held in his court, and cites an article he read today with a title about a woman starting a new beginning, but mentioned that he forgot the author's name. He tells Jyoti that she should learn from people like the author. Kalpana starts clapping, and tells the judge that it's Jyoti's article. The judge then apologizes to Jyoti for what he said about her, and gives her the opportunity to speak.
Jyoti tells the judge that she is not interested in contradicting what was said about her - even if she did, Pankaj would be forced to take her back. She tells the judge that she could disprove each of the allegations about her, but a relationship is something from the heart, and cannot be demanded or forced, and is based on trust rather than evidence, and once that's gone, it's not salvageable. The reason she won't contradict what's said about her is that she's paid for her own faults in this marriage, but that she was guilty of wanting peace in her family, giving her hubby what he wanted and believing that there are still conscientious people in the world. She also said that the reason she didn't want to prove this was that Pankaj himself knows what the truth was. She married Pankaj b'cos even though he was blind, he was able to discern her mood at all times, and tell right from wrong, so how could he not be able to tell whether she was guilty or not? She also didn't want her child to be brought up by a father who was afraid of the truth. She doesn't want any alimony since she is capable of earning for her family and raising her child.
She also tells the judge that she doesn't want back into the family b'cos even if it was forced, what couldn't be forced was the trust and respect she once had. Today, now that she realizes that her relationship is dead, she wants the divorce. She tells the judge that she does have a condition attached to the divorce, which Pankaj had originally agreed to when she first signed it. She demands that Pankaj never step forward and claim possession of her baby: she doesn't want her baby to have a father who doesn't have the guts to defend its mother's honor. That was the condition that she had then, and it's the condition she has now.
The judge then turns to Pankaj and asks him whether he's willing to sign a document renouncing his rights to Jyoti's baby. Pankaj hesitates, and the episode ends on that note.
Promo (No precap)
CM tells a shocked Sudha to go to Jyoti's place and collect all her items of marriage - her wedding kangan, her mangal-sutra, et al. Uday is disgusted, and Sudha is shocked. (Coming from CM, what better is expected? 🤢)
Comments
I liked the courtroom drama today, although I would have wished for more from Jyoti. When she did perk up, she would have done well to have told the judge how cm made her life hell, and tried to manipulate every aspect of her life, until recently. She would have done well to state that she had indeed, as Kalpana stated, left Pankaj only a month ago, and that she was willing to undergo DNA tests just for the record, but not to salvage the marriage, but just clear her name.
Aside from that, she did well in her final session, where she stated what she wanted. This time, the original mistake that she made with Pankaj was avoided: unlike then, where there were no witnesses, this time, the judge asked Pankaj whether he was willing to sign off on a document renouncing his rights to her baby. So now, Jyoti would be on record that she didn't cheat on Pankaj, while Pankaj would be on record that he was willing to forego his parental right to Jyoti's kid.
Hopefully tomorrow, this divorce drama should be over, and Jyoti should move on. On the promo, while it is undoubtedly mean, I too wish Jyoti stop wearing her signs of marriage, and only don them if and when she re-marries.
Episode rating: 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
While it could have been better w/ Jyoti stating the facts just for the record b4 reiterating that she wanted the divorce, it was good. Now, please end it and move on to Pankaj/Neelam
