Hmm I swear I started writing my post somewhere and it disappeared.Oh well time to start over!! Hello guys. How is everything!
Today we are celebrating Barbie's birthday!! (now don't go looking for a member name barbie, we are talking about the doll)
A little on Barbie's history
Once upon a time there was a girl name Barbara (like any other girl) 😳 who loved to play with dolls. Though the dolls were the usual baby dolls she used to give them adult like charcaters.😆 😆 Her mom (Ruth Handler) found it really interesting and asked her husband who happens to be a toymaker (fine..he owned a toy manufacturing company) to make adult-bodied dolls. Her husband didn't like the idea. 👎🏼
Years later she made the first doll 👏 and Named it Barbie after her daughter Barbara! 😳 Barbie made her first debut at the International Toy Fair in New York on March 9th, 1959!
And that is why March 9th is considred Barbie's birthday!
Though she is only a doll, 😆 we can't shy away from admitting she is one of the BIGGEST (if not the biggest) Cultural icon. 😃 For decades girls literally wanted to be like Barbie. It got to a point where Barbie was creating controversies. 😕😕😕 All the negativity aside she still bring much joy to children's lives. (brings joy to grown ups like me too **hides face in shame**) 😳
First I thought Let's have a discussion or maybe even a dress up contest. Then I realized let's put this day to a good use! 😊
Like Barbie we are going to try and spread a little joy!!
We are going to make cards for children..( 😭 sick children, very, very, extremely sick children who are battling serious illnesses like Leukemia, Intractable Epilepsy,Mitochondrial Disorder,and Osteosarcoma)

If any of you creative people are willing to spend few minutes to make a child smile, here are the rules for the cards
-- No card should be bigger than 500 x 400 pixels.
-- These cards are for very sick children.😭 Some of them are on a road where they may never recover so try not to say things like " GET BETTER SOON" instead say things " I hope you are well, wishing you well, you are in my prayers" sweet poems, cartoons, drawings or other messages. 😳
-- Make it something that would make these children smile.😆😆
-- No animated cards because I will be mailing these, your animated efforts will go to waste.
-- You may pair your card with a separate letter or a little present. (nothing too big unless you will mail it yourself, I don't think I can handle large number of shipping prices)😭
😳 If you would like to make a card for one of these children ( or few of these children) simply fill these questions out and send them to me. I would send you their name, age, illness and other info such as their interests. ( I would rather not share all the info about these children so openly)

- Would you prefer to make a Birthday card?
- Would you like to send the card yourself ?
The last day to send me their card is on March 24th, Wednesday!

We get 24 hours a day, I don't think we would have to lose anything major by giving these kids few minutes of our day.😉
