I am very very silent member and sometimes read updates and ocassionally discussions
(At one time I used to watch Bidaai at least once a week, but more and more it's gotten depressing to the point that even reading updates becomes a chore - a big thank you the updaters though - it must sometimes be painful to watch the episodes)
Anyway I see a lot of points made about the creatives ruining a character (in this case Ragini, or perhaps even Alekh). But wasn't it those very same creatives who made the character you love? It's not that the character was born out of nothing or is real - but it was a figment of imagination of the writers. Whatever made you love the character, it was the situations and the lines the writer wrote. So if that character is accepted as the writers wrote him/her as a real person to love and adore, then the same character should be accepted with the flaws that the writer consequently writes into him/her. Rather than saying the character itself is a good one but is doing illogical acts or being harsh due to the writers spoiling him/her, isn't it true that whatever logical/loving acts were performed earlier was also due to the same writers. It is thus the writer's prerogative how he/she intends to build on the character because the character is his/her intellectual property of sorts.
It's great to see discussions of the development of characters or what might have made the character react a certain way but to attribute the good aspects of a character to the character himself/herself and the bad aspects to the fault of the writers makes little logical sense
In this I'm not saying that the actions of the characters in Bidaai (particularly Alekh and Ragini and to a lesser extent Vasu and Kaushalya) make any logical sense to me. But more that in blaming the writers of making a character look bad, it is often forgotten that it was the writers that made the character look good in the first place. If not for the writer, would the character exist for anyone to love or hate?
