Jyoti explains to Poonam that what she is doing is not right - if she calls her parents @ the drop of a hat, they'll think that nobody here cares about her. Poonam protests that that's indeed the case, but stops herself, and Jyoti asks her how can she determine in one day that she can't live there? Poonam's phone rings, and it's her dad. He asks her what's the matter, and she tells him that she'll call him later. Her father asks for Jyoti, but she refuses, and tells him that she'll call him later, and disconnects the call.
Jyoti praises her for not bothering her father. She then explains to Poonam that before marrying, the latter did meet them, get to know them and did know that they aren't as affluent as she was used to. She however assures her that her needs would be met by both Deepu and her, and that Deepu would rise high one day. She asks Poonam to take the family into confidence, so that such problems don't bother her. If after that, she still has problems, she can talk to Jyoti, or Papa, or Ma about them. She asks her to come w/ her, so that she'll teach her how to make the halwa.
In the kitchen, Jyoti shows her how to make the gajar-ka-halwa. After demonstrating it, she is about to leave, when Poonam stops her and asks her whether she has to cook for everybody, like Dadi says? Jyoti laughs and tells her that they're all scared of Dadi, but since there are 5 women in the house, the other 4 of them would take care of her. Besides, her saas wouldn't let go of the kitchen that easily. Saying this, Jyoti tells Poonam not to be tense about all this.
In another room, Dadi is preparing bardis, and Jyoti comes there. After praising it, Jyoti tells her that Poonam is making halwa, and to eat it no matter how it is. Dadi asks why, and Jyoti tells her that she has never made it before. She asks Dadi to even praise it a bit. Dadi sulks while Jyoti leaves, remarking to herself that she'd have to praise it even if it was bad.
Jyoti gets to her scooter, and tries starting it. She checks the fuel tank and finds that it's empty. A friend arrives, and Jyoti tells him she's out of petrol. The friend offers to give her some from his car. While he is at it, a courier arrives for Jyoti Vashisth, and she receives it.
Pankaj is in his room packing his bag, and CM joins him. She asks him whether he had sent the letter to Jyoti? He affirms it, and she notes that Jyoti should be receiving it today.
At home, Dadi is tasting the halwa that Poonam has made, and so do Sushma & Padma. It seems to have been a disaster, but Poonam asks them how it was very excitedly. Dadi and Padma do what they can to avoid making faces. 😆😆 Dadi praises it, and Poonam suggests that she have more, but Dadi stops her. 😆😆 (This scene was a hoot) She tells her that if she has more sweets, her health would deteriorate. She then offers KK, but he declines on the same grounds. Padma says that considering that it's her first time, it came out pretty well (uh oh!!!) Dadi asks Poonam whether she had given it to Deepu, but she tells her that he wasn't hungry, and so declined. (I'm curious that Poonam didn't have it herself - she would have got an idea that something wasn't right)
Jyoti arrives @ one of her lenders and gives him some money. An envelope falls from her bag, unnoticed. Verma-ji tells her that she's only given him Rs2000, when she was supposed to close the loan w/ Rs 7000. Jyoti explains to him that these costs were all borne of the wedding. Verma-ji insists that she repay the balance by this week, and Jyoti says she'll try. As she leaves, Verma points out the fallen envelope, and Jyoti takes it.
The phone rings, and Dadi calls her, and tells her that Poonam didn't seem to have at all exerted herself after combining the ingredients, and that the halwa was like mixing sugar and mud. Jyoti tells her that it was the first time. Dadi worries about what Deepu will eat, but Jyoti assures her that Poonam will learn all that, and that one day, Dadi herself will praise her cooking.
Jyoti is at Kalpana's place, and Kalpana tells her that the budget Jyoti is showing her looks like India's budget. There are losses everywhere. Jyoti tells her that this is the monthly budget of her home, and Kalpana tells her that there must be a reason behind it. Jyoti tells Kalpana that she needs another job, but Kalpana tells her that given everything else she is doing, no way. Kalpana tells her that if she needs money, she can borrow from her, but Jyoti tells her that the expenses are only going up, and after all the loans she's taken, she can't borrow any more from her. (Jyoti is better off borrowing from Kalpana to clear off Verma-ji's debt) Kalpana asks her how much can she do alone? Soon, she'll have to take maternity leave as her pregnancy advances. Jyoti claims that right now she's fine, and young, and due to her dance, also gets the needed exercise. She says that she can do a part time job, like she did @ Sishu Mangal. Kalpana tells her that there is a big difference b/w then and now. Jyoti tells her that Deepu's now married, and his expenses will go up, but his pay isn't much. Sushma is now in her 5th month of pregnancy, due to which she's had to stop studying, and can't work either. If not Jyoti, then who else would do it? 🤢🤢🤢
Back home, Poonam's suitcase is being taken in by Deepu, and Sushma is all excited about it. Poonam protests that she herself has no idea what's in it, and Sushma says that that's the surprise. Jyoti enters as well, and KK remarks that he too would see what Sushma will be getting from Poonam. Poonam is confused, so Dadi explains this rasam. She says that whatever Sushma wants from that suitcase, she can take. Poonam is horrified. Padma asks Poonam whether she's unfamiliar w/ this rasam? Poonam says she isn't. Dadi invites Jyoti to plunder the suitcase, but Padma interrupts her and tells Sushi to start, since she's younger. Sushma opens it and pulls out something from it, and tells Poonam that this sari is her choice. Poonam protests that this is a designer sari that her dad bought her from Mumbai, and Dadi congratulates Sushma for hitting the jackpot. Poonam tells Sushma that she can't part w/ that, but Sushma can take any other sari of her choice. Dadi tells Poonam that according to the custom, Sushma can't give it back, and it's now hers. Poonam offers to get Sushma an identical sari from her father, but Padma takes Sushma's side here and tells her that this sari is now Sushma's, and that she can ask her father for another one for herself. If she takes it, that custom would have been broken. Poonam is upset at this decision, while Padma asks Jyoti to explain this to her.
Poonam protests that she doesn't want to discuss this, and she doesn't follow that custom. She points out that it's outdated, and asks how can they take something of hers against her wishes - it's broad daylight robbery. Everybody is shocked @ her protests, and she runs off crying. 😭😭
Deepu goes after her. Jyoti tries to stop him, but then her phone rings. It's Pankaj. He asks her if she had read the letter he sent her? Jyoti says she hadn't since she had been busy all day. She opens the letter and reads it. She is shocked at the contents.

This nautanki w/ Poonam is getting boring. How I wish they'd focus more on her romance w/ Deepu, rather than her foul-ups w/ the rest of the family. Although, the halwa scene was funny. Having said that, one thing I do admire about Poonam is her ability to protest when she thinks she's being shafted - Jyoti and Sudha could learn a lot from her.
As usual, Jyoti is being more emotional than practical by talking about taking up a new job, when in a few months, she'll be on maternity leave. Let me get this straight - Sushma is 5 months pregnant, and is therefore not only not working, but not even studying. Yet, we're supposed to believe that Jyoti, when she gets to that point, will take up an extra job? Why can't Jyoti put her ego and pride behind her, borrow from Kalpana to pay off the lenders, and then pay back Kalpana at her convenience. Kalpana won't be a Verma-ji setting close deadlines.
Also, I'm sick of these Jyoti-Pankaj nautankis as well. He's got his divorce, now let it go. Why is he sending Jyoti letters to lie about something?
Episode rating: 👍🏼
The Sharmas having to gulp that bad halwa was funny, but otherwise, the episode was a drag.
