Speculation was rife today of a possible marriage between the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan but there was no confirmation of it from either side.
Reports of a link up between the two started on the sets of J.P. Dutta 's Umrao Jaan starring 30-year old Abhishek and Ash, two years elder to him, during the shooting in Jaipur recently.
Adding grist to the mills, a leading national daily reported that Ajitabh Bachchan, younger brother of mega star Amitabh Bachchan met a Bangalore-based astrologer Chandrashekar Swami with their horoscopes. The astrologer is reported to have given a go ahead saying "sooner the better".
There was no comment from the families of either side.
Ash was the only guest to be allowed direct entry into the Bachchan's residence "Jalsa" for Abhishek's birthday bash on February 5 while others had to alight at the gate and then walk in.
Reports had it that the duo danced all evening after Abhishek persuaded the beauty queen to get on to the dance floor.
Both have paired in a couple of movies like Dhai Akshar Prem Ke , Kuch Naa Kaho and also starred in the hit song "Kajra Re" along with Amitabh in film Bunty Aur Babli .
Both Abhishek and Ash have a history of broken relationships. While Abhishek was formally engaged to Karisma Kapoor , Aishwarya was linked with Salman Khan and later Vivek Oberoi .
Abhishek and Ash are starring in two movies scheduled for release this year, namely, 'Umrao Jaan' and Dhoom 2 .
Ash's business manager Hari Singh today declined to comment on reports of an impending marriage of the beauty queen with Abhishek.
When contacted by a news agency, Singh said, Ash is presently on a shooting schedule outside Mumbai.
''I handle her business affairs and cannot comment on sensitive and personal matters. It is inappropriate. Similarly, she has not asked to me to give a reaction on her behalf regarding the marriage reports appearing in a section of the media,'' he said.
