"If your content is good then you can have some kind of reliability and success. We have made several films; it's just perhaps not known to many in the industry. We will continue to do that. Not just Hindi cinema, we have even been promoting Telugu, Tamil and Marathi cinema. We are very happy that our film Vihir is travelling to four international film festivals," Bachchan told After Hrs in an exclusive interview.
He adds, "We will continue to do this kind of work. We don't know production. We tried that when we were corporatising for the first time and everything was fine. We set up huge offices. We had 300 people working for us. All the directions that we took were right and it's just that somewhere we went wrong in how to manage it. And then when the company went into the red and then after we came out of it, we decided that we would keep it very lean and now we have just two people working."
Bachchan further states, "I believe that these are times when you need to hold hands and you hold hands with people who are superior, who have greater knowledge than you. We don't know how to do production. We don't know how to distribute or exhibit. We will hold hands with people who are already in the business and we will share profits."
Bachchan feels that the industry, which is witnessing a sea-change in terms of makers trying out off-beat content, should continue to be in an everlasting state of transition. "I feel we are doing some very good work. The Hindi film industry should always be in a state of transition and evolve. The day we feel that we have reached the summit, making movies will not be exciting anymore.
As an actor, the day I'm satisfied and content with what I have done and received, that will be the end of me. I am liking the kind of work that is being done now and I hope we continue to strive for excellence," he signs off.
