Well this is just about something I saw yesterday, was pleasantly surprised and very pleased by it. Anyone saw the little jig of the head Shakti did at Terence when she won the "Best Performance of the Day" award, and how Terence laughed it off and then did a thumbs up? 😛 I LOVED watching that flow of easiness, that bond Terence has with his Toli.

I always knew Terence loved his students. He's been the only judge I've seen has ever stood up to comfort, hug, or otherwise when anyone is in pain or injured. Do you think that's how a mentor should be, how a master should act? Should the contestants have their say and have an informal flowing relationship with their teacher, or should it be cordial and strictly professional like we've seen Geeta in for example, at least relatively. Do you think it tends to affect or change the performances, or also affect other contestants from the other gangs. What do you think about it all? 😃

I'll give my two cents later on... 😆

P.S This is not a thread to say how much we love Terence, though that may slip in from time to time 😆😳, but compare about how ALL the judges have acted this season so far with their groups on and the tidbits off screen as well. Also, let's just respect everyone's opinion and let everyone have their say. Let's roll it on... 😃

yes...i agree with you...i noticed the little jig of the head too... and the relationship each mentor shares with their students...hmm...i think each of them have a special way to be with their student...if i remember last year, in the mentor special episodes where they got feedback from the contestants and others....apart from the jokes and pulling leg thing that happened...you also got to see the different ways the mentors are with their students...

remo is easy going...friendly with them...like someone had said...doesnt feel like a mentor student relationship. so its easy breezy....
geeta is like a maaa...caring, overprotective sometimes...like a guide...who they listen to.
terence is also very caring in a different way...apart from the easiness with his students and the care tha the takes with them...like you described......there seems to be a lot of respect for him...and respect for him as a teacher/dancer as a professional and a lottt of respect for the person he is.....like someone to look up to...he seems to make a difference to them as people....So i guess love and respect is there...that loving authority, with whom you have the freedom to be yourselg with and yet grow inwards...he instilsl that in his students...that i dont see any other mentor on any other show doing...making the contestants grow as people...and he knows his contestants well...as people...so thats good. Also i remember jai ad written that terence gave him the opportunity to choreograph some of his solos...i think that speaks very highly of a teacher...to actually let go and give them a chance...

so yeah...amongst the three...terence is my favourite as a teacher...because there is a blend of love and respect....its not sooo much easiness to even overrule the mentor...its easiness to express oneself...like vrushali being uncomfortable about the hai rama...and as a mentor understanding from where she came...

Also his toli always seems the most bonded...between themselves..always...last season and this....thats nice to see...

Yes, Terence has that "special" bonding with his students that he can convey to them through eyes and smiles. Anyone who has been trained with him can do that - hence Punit also understands what Terence is thinking about his performance each time...

Last season, I remember how he nodded to Alisha once when she was in bottom three - she looked at Terence with sadness, and then he blinked his eyes to tell her 'do not worry, everything will be alright', and then she smiled and nodded her head!! What a powerful communication!!! It's not possible and easy for many people to do that, as that communication has to come from one's heart and reflect in their eyes... I communicate a lot like that, so I fully understand their communication through gestures... Unfortunately I have seen that many people are not good in reading the eyes of others and has to hear everything verbally or else totally miss the message!! LOL... It's good to see people here who can read messages conveyed through eyes, nods, and all!! 😃

Remo keeps the relationship more friendly and professional I think. His students have a lot of respect for him. Geeta feels like a maa to her students and becomes very protective of them... Her students feel like her own children. Terence feels the happiness and sadness of his students and connects well to them... His students adore him and understand his faith in them and make sure to give their best. Each one has their own personality and are good masters to their students..

Yes Akku I noticed that too...Shakti conveyed it with her eyes and terrence acknoledged it and did the hand gesture...and I see that often in all their winnings...even in season one I remember how Vrushali and Jai used to run at Terence when she used to be appreciated...it is Love and friendship. I do see a bond in Remo and his student too, its more of a student and teacher and for Geeta its like Maa aur beti/beta...

Yes DC, you nailed it for all three masters! 😃 Each one has their own style to relate to or bond with their students... Terence's bonding is extra special because he connects emotionally with his students and understands their emotions well... 😊

all three of the masters have their own style of interaction and bonding with their students.
but there is something different about terence and his toli. the way he interacts and communicates with them........... i just cant resist smiling.
after shakti and kunwar's urban style performance he went to the stage
and hugged them......he is more like a friend to them with whom they can share their feelings.

He is more than a friend and master... He takes his role as master and mentor seriously and becomes their teacher in dance, guide in life, protector in crisis, friend in sharing their happiness, a shoulder to lean on when they feel down or upset, etc etc.. He is a true idol for them at the same level as their parents and siblings.. That's how he connects to them and he understands them, without them having to verbally tell him about their fears and emotions....

I never could see this, am not going to miss this when I see it on TV this time round! 😆

Exactly, that was what I was hinting at, you said it all Akku! The unsaid bond, the flow of communication that does not need words or actions, simply feelings right from the heart. It's so lovely to watch that kind of an interaction. Perhaps it's also because he's quite young still isn't he? So, he may be a lot more closer to their generation, making it a whole lot easier to be a friend to them in the first place. Whichever way, love it! 😛😳😛

Yeah, I really am sorry for people who can't go beyond words. Communication without words is one of the best feelings in the world. I can say so because I've experienced it. It's another thing altogether looking at someone and knowing he/she understands you without you need to open your mouth! 😛

Wow, sneha, wow!!!!!!! 👏 👏 😃 So well written, buddy!! I feel so proud of ya reading it!! 🤗 So right about communication beyond words! Tell me about it, as I am someone who is very much like that, and at times how I wish everyone could read eyes, gestures and body language, rather than waiting to hear it in raw words!! Might be the fault of technology as most people now rely on communication through written words (forum, chat, email, etc) or hearing (phone), than in-person communication - so common among friends, relatives, teachers-students, colleagues, etc... Some people think wordless communication is like reading one's mind - could be, but that communication is the most powerful kind...
