Smriti Irani continues to remain a prominent name in both entertainment and public life. Having risen to immense fame with her iconic role as Tulsi in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, she recently returned to the spotlight with the much talked about continuation of the show, often referred to as Kyunki 2. The project has struck a chord with audiences, blending nostalgia with fresh storytelling, and once again placing Smriti at the center of conversations around Indian television. Her journey from a celebrated actor to a respected political figure has only added to her enduring appeal.
In a recent appearance on The Comedy Factory, Smriti Irani opened up about one of the scariest experiences of her life, recalling a deeply unsettling fan encounter from her acting days. Sharing the incident, she revealed how the situation escalated over time and left her shaken, especially since she was pregnant at the time and living alone while her husband Zubin Irani was away.
“Something very weird happened with me. I was six months pregnant and my husband was in Australia. There was a man who would follow me daily. From sets to my building, he would stand below my building too and when I would leave for sets in the morning, he would still be standing there. And Parsis are very fun loving anyway, I said there is someone downstairs and this person stands here every morning and when I go on sets, his car follows me there too.”

She further says, “And one day, he actually stopped me in front of my building. I have never felt so scared in my life. Because when you are pregnant for the first time, you are a young woman. You want to protect your child. And there was nobody on the set. I will never forget the chills I got. And he said, ‘Mujhe aap se shadi karni hai.’ And I looked at him, I said, ‘Bapu, Bhaisahab, my baby is about to come.’ Toh he actually looked at me and said, ‘Bachhe ke sath aapko apna lunga.’”

Smriti further recalled how the bizarre situation left her both frightened and overwhelmed, prompting her to immediately reach out to her husband. Despite the fear she experienced in that moment, she ended the anecdote with a touch of humor, laughing as she remembered calling him in panic.
The revelation offers a glimpse into the less discussed realities of fame, where admiration can sometimes cross boundaries. Even years later, Smriti Irani’s candid recollection underscores how deeply such incidents can impact public figures, making her story both relatable and unsettling at the same time.
