Dear Tisha, Please keep in mind Indian Idol is a International Format & Sony TV can't change the original format even they wish to do so while SEGMP is a Format created by Gajendra Singh from ZEE TV & he keep changing the format as per viewers response. Another good thing about SRGMP is the quality of the singers & Production value of the show.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
I personally attend the show as a part of live audience and i saw the controversy between ID & AS & believe me nothing is planned. That was not a drama but the attachment of the mentors with their singers.By the way the Grand Finale of Challenge 2005 is scheduled on 24th Feb 2006, LIVE on ZEE TV.
That is exactly what I was saying. That these guys have to stick by a format. Does it make sense to just keep changing formats of a competition as you go along, something like a soap? Is this really fair to the contestants? At first they were told that the girls and boys would compete separately and in the end they would have one female and one male winner. As they go along they club them both together and announce one winner. Was this fair to the girls?
I understand the student-mentor attachment. But fighting like cats and dogs and pressuring Gajji to bend rules to suit their contestant is not in the right spirit of the competition. Gajji has failed miserably to give structure to this show and it is all a big hotch potch now. No one knows when and how they change rules. Not a fair game and a big dissappointment.
Btw, there are some good talents in Indian Idol 2 - you might want to watch Karunya and Amey sing. And also keep in mind that they have no mentors or guru's coaching them for 7 months.
Had Gajji held on to his old format and let esteemed judges judge the contestants - we would have had a top-notch winner. But I think today's Saregamapa is nothing less than any of the other talent shows going on. The final winner after watching soo many episodes still stands weaker than Karunya or Amey from II2, in my eyes.
