The character of Shonali
She is independent, confident and like every other woman of today. I think she has a great sense of humour and is a support system to Karthik. She wants to be in a stable, committed relationship. She is the kind of girl a guy would like to be with, she is someone who is fun to hang out with. In some ways, she is like me and in some ways, we are different. Shonali gets hyper and I hardly do.
Cutting her hair for the role
It took Vijay Lalwani two meetings to convince me to cut my long hair. I think it looks great now and I am really happy. I don't feel like growing it back. I love the look, it was completely worth it. I am glad I took the chance. People love it too.
About Karthik Calling Karthik
I can only say that it is a romantic thriller. If I tell you anything more, I will be spoiling the fun. You see romantic films and you see thrillers but very rarely do you see a romantic thriller. This genre has not been attempted very often.
Working with Farhan Akhtar
Initially I was very nervous because I see him as a director. But on the sets, he was there only as an actor. He was not a producer or writer or director. He is very friendly and makes people comfortable. The rumours about us are ridiculous. It's bizarre to link us in the first place. After we met a couple of times, we got quite comfortable with each other.
Favourite co-star
Everyone is different. Shah Rukh is different from Akshay who is different from Saif. They all have distinct personalities, fan followings and achievements. I am glad I have worked with all of them, including Farhan.
Being Farhan's senior
Oh ya! I have done four films and he has done three films but I think Farhan is way more experienced than I am. He was born in a film family and has grown up in the industry. He has directed and assisted on a lot of movies and has been around longer than I have so I think I have a lot to learn from him.
Director Vijay Lalwani
He sat with us for script readings and made sure we knew everything about our characters. He has created well-defined characters and beautiful moments in the film. We worked on the script, characters and the look.
Music of the film
I think right now the hot favourite is Uff teri ada. People love the song and they look my look in it. I am on Twitter and my phone is constantly buzzing with messages. I am glad about that. People have bought the CD and they have liked the entire album. :: ::
The pairing of Farhan-Deepika
I am part of the pair so I cannot comment on it but I think Shonali complements Karthik and vice-versa. They both are equally important characters in the film.
