Never thought I would ver make a religious topic, but one of the many things bugging me was things(since I'm an atheist and never pay attention to religion).

I once went to a church and they were referring to Mary as Him. Maybe the priest said it wrong and didn't realize it? But my question also was why do people always refer to God as "him", and not "Her" in general?

I guess it depends on which form of God U worship. If its the male form then its a He . But if its the mother Goddess like Durga, Laxmi, Saraswati then its a She . One can pray to any form one feels comfortable with. It does not really matter as to which form one prays to as long as one prays 😉 Its the process , the thought involved in prayer that is therapeutic !😊

I don't think you got my point. When people are discussing about religion in general, they refer to "God" as "He", not "She". I've seen this ijn many instances, irrespective of what religion they belonged to.

There are many different reasons

For Christians they believe God is male.

For muslims and jews God doesn't have a gender. If you are speaking in english, and if the noun is cosidered powerful they consider it masucline hence uses " he" and not a "she". Sun is a he, moon is a she.

As for Hindus they have Gods and Godesses.
