i completely agree, infact this is what i wanted to post since the time i started watching DID,I lost all respect for this show,i enjoyed it so much last year though some of the contestant dressed oddly then too but this time most of the time i feel i am watching something so cheap and vulgar. How does a reputed and family channel like Zee allow the contestant to wear such vulgar clothes and on top of it some of the moves in the show of the contestant just makes me want to shut off the tv.How did the contestant agree to wear such clothes.I think The contestant from Terrance team usually waer the most vulgar clothes,i noticed that last year too with Alisha and Vaishali.

your right.... but even if you don't look at tv or movies... in real life, girls have started wearing westernized clothes as well... when i visited india in the summer... i saw tons of skirts and shorts, which took me by surprise cuz i hadn't been there in so long and not seen the change... but the fact remains that it is becoming more normal in reel and real life...
and i agree, more people are accepting and expecting such stuff... personally, i don't expect it but i doesn't bother me... so i guess it means i accept it 😃

Media is a strong medium as it reaches tons of thousands of people at the same time, and since media is portraying revealing clothes to be "hot", "fashionable", "in style" and "trendy", people have started wearing them as well. it's a vicious loop! it's like our minds are being controlled by these corporations who are telling us what should we consider beautiful, or hot and what should we look like.
I am not an oldie here who was born back in the days, I'm also a teenager living in a western society where all these things are common, and u do get use to all this if it's done on such a large scale, whether u like it or not. but if u just step back and think critically abt where did it all start from? what made this trend so famous? and why? and with this rate, where will the next generation be? some horriffic things come to mind. what worries me the most is the media! Where is it going and what is it promoting and teaching these young minds?
Again, I'm talking abt media in general, not specifically targeting DID

I agree with you. I'm not an old fashioned person either, I mean it's obvious that living in the UK and being a teenager you'll come across people who will dress in all kinds of clothes but there is a fine line between looking trendy and just looking tacky and cheap. I don't think the problem is Indian girls wearing skirts or whatever, that has been there for a long time. Just look at Kajol in some of her older movies. If you go clubbing in India then you obviously aren't going to find a girl draped in a saree lol, skirts and dresses are very common these days. The media really do play a key role in it all but at the end of the day most people wouldn't wear something they are not comfortable in. If the dancers look good in mini skirts and are comfortable and not being forced to just put on any 'sexy' outfit then I wouldn't have a problem with that. However I get the feeling that once the masters have decided this is what they want them to wear then there is no going back and they will HAVE to wear what is chosen.
The dressing sense is definitely becoming more westernised but most girls still realise that they have to face their parents before they leave their house lol so the clothes they wear in India are still pretty decent.
Trust me, if Remo's angels had worn that on a show like X factor or Britain's Got Talent then it may not have created as big of a controversy but people would still talk and say "err..what the hell were they thinking?!" because they did not have the confidence to pull off a costume like that.

Alright everyone seems to be flying in different directions on this borderline thing. Some say Terence's outfits and moves are cheap, while some say its Remo's team. There has got to be some clarity.

Next time someone points something out as cheap and vulgar, specify which performance. Was the dance vulgar or the outfit? Then explain specifically how and why the dance and outfit was too vulgar? And I mean really specific as to what makes that in inch less of fabric, an outfit exceptionally distasteful.

To put my perception illustratively.

Charlie's Angel's Full Throttle dance - Now thats something I would not watch with my family. Why I'd fall of my seat if they did that on television.

Bring it One routines - Now thats something I can cheer for too.

Remo' Angels - Tacky and cheap, lame wannabe routine. I abhorred it. Yet a far cry from some strip club routine.
