On his birthday, we relive the moments our hearts skipped a few beats
Was it when the young Salman Khan fought with Bhagyashree over the unlocked toilet door? Or was it the time he realised what he called 'friendship' was actually 'love'? Was it his innocently attractive eyes that our little female hearts fell for? Or was it his six-pack abs that drew us to him? What was it exactly that made us fall desperately in love with this sexy, naughty, cute and charming incorrgible Bollywood brat? On his birthday on December 27, let's take a walk down memory lane and relive some of the moments that drew us to Salman Khan. Enjoy!
We loved him when at a birthday party he realised that 'ek ladka aur ek ladki kabhi dost nahin ho sakte' (a guy and a girl can never be friends). It was corny, if you think about it. But hey, when you look into eyes like those, do you care?
We loved lover boy Salman Khan aka Prem in Maine Pyar Kiya who while watching a woman's posterior falls on his girlfriend's lap. Sweet, sweet Salman!
Our heart went out for the boy who frustrated with his girlfriend (he wanted to hear those three words namely 'I', 'Love' and 'You' from her) starts building his droolable arm muscles. Oh such cute madness! Our little girlie hearts fluttered helplessly when he pushed Bhagyashree (aka Suman) to the wall (most literally) and said 'I love WHAT!?'
We wanted someone to come after us too with 'ma ke kangan' (his mother's bangles) and beg our parents for our hands. Very very Mills and Boon. Very Very dreamy!
And his eyes! GAWD. If only someone looked at us the way Salman looked at Bhagyashree, we are sure we could have reached the stars. But since, nobody did (perhaps because nobody can be Salman), we are still earth bound.
Well, Salman Khan was not always the cute lover boy. But could we help loving him even as the funny Prem (again!) in Andaz Apna Apna who tried to win the heart of the daughter of a multi-millionaire? We laughed at him, yes. But hey, we loved him even then!
Salman knew no Kung-Fu. But we still fell in love with his silly (almost vulgar) fight moves. We absolutely fell head over heels when the cute, dumb Salman calls a pistol 'a rifle' in the final fight scene of Andaz Apna Apna. Nobody should be allowed to be SO cute. AWWWWW!
And then there was Hum Aapke Hain Koun. It should be illegal to be SO devastatingly romantic and handsome, we thought.
We fell in love with Salman all over again when he asked THE QUESTION: Hum Aapke Hain Koun? (There is no literal translation to this but we'll try: Who am I to you?). And every little female heart had it's own secret answer to that question. Some of us still hold it close!
When Salman chasing Madhuri falls on the bed with her and the bed breaks...
We loved Salman when he danced with Karisma Kapoor on a speed boat
If you can tear your eyes away from the bare chested GOD in the picture above, here's why we loved him in Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge. For being so sweet and protective. Who wants burning passion when you can have a man like Salman loving you in his cute, funny, protective way?
We loved him because he looked like he could pick anybody and anything up in his protective arms. He made us fall in love with corny. And we loved it too!
We loved Salman Khan when he ganged up with Sanjubaba to tease Karisma Kapoor in Chal Mere Bhai
We loved him even more when he gets drunk because his brother (Sanjay Dutt) falls in love with his girl (Karisma Kapoor). We even loved it when Sanjubaba calls him 'natu and petu' (short and fat).
We loved Karan for loving his brother Arjun. The love, we could see in his eyes! We loved him because he loved his real life brothers too. We loved Salman for showing us a way to beat the heat in the village sun! We love Salman Khan for his strength. Jail-Home-Jail-Home again without even as much as flinching. WOW! And in case you thought being loved by Salman Khan was only protective, cute and sweet... We loved him for romancing Rani all night in Baabul. And we knew our love for Salman Khan was true when we had this sudden rush of emotions while watching him sleep like a baby in Preity Zinta's arms in Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha. And hey, there's a LOT more to our love for Salman... We love Salman because...he loves others. Did he really need to gift Ranbir Kapoor his painting of Raj Kapoor? But he did! It's Salman's loving heart we are after people. We women are not so shallow! We love Salman because... he loves his family We love Salman because... he loves his pets! We love Salman because... he loves kids. The love for his nephews and niece comes through even in a flat picture. How cool is that! We love Salman because... he loves his father! We love Salman because... he loves to spend time with his family We love Salman for... standing by his friends. ALWAYS! We love Salman for...being a Mama's boy We love Salman because... he lets his fans pull his cheeks on National Television! And on his birthday on December 27, we want to tell him how much he is still 'wanted' for just being this naughty, cute, loving man called Salman Khan! Happy Birthday Salman! There's more to why we love you, but guess we can just sum it up in one line: We love you for you being YOU! |
