About UNN HAZAARON KE NAAM

Hi everybody,

I read in a past forum post here, that Vikrant Massey had won rave reviews for his acting in a certain telefilm. So, like so many others on this forum, I had sat down to watch UNN HAZAARON KE NAAM on 26/11 with high expectations, and, I add rather sheepishly, mainly bcoz it had Vikrant Massey in the cast. 😳 Expecting his histrionic skills to be unleashed onscreen once again. But to be very honest with you all, i was quite disappointed. The telefilm had nothing to showcase Vikrant Massey's unquestionable acting prowess. He had a blink-and-you-miss role, lasting less than 15mins. Which comprised of a mobile conversation in the kitchen, a meet-the-guests before the shootout, leading the guests out to safety, another mobile conversation while crouching under the table ("main aaoonga na ma, i'll see you"…u'v all seen the promo, i believe! 😊 ) and then refusing to burn the tablecloth and getting shot to death…that about sums up his screen-time. It was a very sensitive, well-nuanced performance, i agree, but nothing stellar. Nothing in there to generate the "rave reviews". Any other good, expressive actor would have done it just as well.

Don't get me wrong. My point is, Vikrant Massey is an actor of immense, immense talent. That is beyond debate. But to get the real taste of that talent, you are better off watching Balika Vadhu. Recollect those scenes – where Sugna hands him a file he had forgotten upstairs, and he just looks at her as she goes back up the stairs…no words, he just lets his eyes do all the emoting. Or the scene upon their return from the Vajreshwari temple (hospital, actually) where Sugna folds her hands and asks for his forgiveness, and he just smiles and shakes his head….These, and many others, are scenes where Vik Massey's acting is woth a million bucks. šŸ‘ For all of you who have missed UNN HAZAARON on tv, fret not. Keep watching BV. Any good actor, I think, would have essayed the role of Richard the chef just as touchingly, but there is no one, absolutely NO ONE that I can visualize in the role of Shyam other than Vik Massey. I have tried many a time, without success. 😊

Even i've to agree with u that no one could have played shyam better than vikrant massey. He is just so natural that it doesn't look like he is acting. I rate him as one of the best actors in the recent times on screen big or small. Physically he may not be ur stereotype hero, but he is one actor who emotes through his eyes. He makes u laugh and cry with him. SO for me currently He is the BEST among the lot.

yes though vikrant didnt have a substantial role in unn hazaro ke naam but i felt that his story was the most touching one. Anyways u r quite rite. the role of richard was too small for vikky to portray his immense acting skills. i too watched the telefilm mainly bcoz of him. but whatever part he did he acted it quite well though it culd not portray his immense talent.
