Now, Nausheen is all set to return, but not on television. Instead she will debut in Vicky Tejwani's Mumbai Marathon opposite Bikram Saluja. The film revolves around the annual marathon and traces the life of different charactors who take part in this event for individual causes. "I play the role of a doctor in this film. Bikram plays an overweight industrialist who has a cardiac problem. Although based on the backdrop of the marathon, it's about love at first sight," she says.
Directed by debutant director Nisha Chainani, the film also stars Sammir Dattani and Mandira Bedi. "I never thought that I would be a part of this project but Vicky is a good friend and wanted me in the film. I loved the script and readily agreed to do the project," she says.
Coming from primarily a television background, does she encounter glaring differences in the working of TV and films? "Not really. I think Balaji is well equipped as far as the technical aspect is concerned. We used to have song picturisations and lavish sets and costumes for the serial. I guess the treatment is different, as far as the story-telling is concerned; it's crisper in films. But I must admit that we get more money on television than in films," she says.
Nausheen was supposed to make her big screen debut in Aakash Pandey's romantic flick Do Dilon Ke Khel Mein, but the film got delayed. "I don't want to talk about the film right now, as it might sound stale when it releases. It's a good film and they are taking time because they want to shoot some portions in Chicago and Chandigarh. I think the film will be released by the end of this year," she informs. Nausheen has also signed Vivash opposite Lucky Ali. "It's a thriller with no songs. We have recorded only one track for the promotion of the film," she adds.
Does signing so many films mean an end of a television innings for Nausheen? "I am open to good roles and the medium is not an issue. I rather wait for roles like Kavita Chaudhury from Udaan and Priya Tendulkar from Rajni," she says.
