Yes Bharti is a strong woman , but do not forget she she is supposed to have a man's soul inside.
So there is nothing to rejoice about , our media, our television, our cinema still like to portray Indian women as weak "Sati savitri Bharatiya Nari"IN reality, we are much ahead and like get out of this burden og being a "bharatiya naari"
Yes, she is supposed to have a man's soul inside, but her reaction today was of a woman, a strong woman caught up badly in the game of fate. She reacted as Bharti, not as Bhaskar.Yup, our media likes to paint a very idealistic painting of women who have one-dimensional personalities. They glamourise this image by carving out characters that are either black or white, and dump thousand kgs of jewellery on them. Agreed. Television paints an exaggerated picture, but my question is - Is the reality anymore different ? Perhaps less scandalous, less glamorous, less exaggerated. But have women really come out of the whole 'Bhartiya Naari' niche ? I don't think so. Like I mentioned in some other post, nothing in the world has changed, it's just more subtle. You will not find women touching their husband's feet, but they're still their slaves. You will not find women getting up in the morning at 5 and singing 'bhajans' to please the family, but they're still family pleasers in alot of other ways. It's simply the collective mindset of the society that is being reflected on television in the form of serials, it's just more exaggerated. The saas-bahu sagas are hits because somewhere deep down, people agree with how women are potrayed, the society likes to see women who are a part of their family's identity, and don't have one of their own.
