It makes me sad that our desi marriages are that way, I've been saying that a lot to my mom lately. She's been trying to convince me that its different with the new desi generation, and therefore I'll be okay. 😆

As Ash's character says in Bride and Prejudice. Arranged marriage is now more of an arranged global dating service. Parents are no longer forcing kids into marriages prematurely or fixing them up with someone they barely know. Parents are very supportive of career and education choices before kids are ready for marriage. Parents are also considerate of their children's tastes and preferences. Nowadays with arranged marriage, parents allow the girl and boy get to meet each other a few times on their own to see if they find each other compatible. Women are not being bogged down by their social cultural obligations and men are finding out that there is more to being a husband than being just a provider.

In someways arranged marriage has many pros over dating. I see too many people who date go through the motions of 'the talk' to see 'where the relationship is headed', fretting if they are moving too fast or slow - or if it will ever lead to marriage. People also worry about how to meet people, or if they meet the right people. In arranged marriage hopefully parents do their homework and pick good people from good families. You know both girl and guy are ready for and looking for marriage. All that is left is compatibility.

Only caveat is that you do not always fall in love or get swept off your feet. You tend to settle for someone who you feel most comfortable and compatible with. The challenge is in turning that settled relationship into genuine love and bring in all the sparks. And with a little effort from both sides it can happen.

You're a good kid with a good head. Worry about the future when time comes. Everything will be fine. As you say, you will always end up with the one you were meant to be with. Keep the faith, just don't get high on it. 😊
