🤱Surrogacy: Womb For Hire! Is It A Blessing Or A Curse For Women?👶

Infertility can be a challenging obstacle to overcome, but advances in reproductive technology have provided new options for individuals and couples seeking parenthood.

Whether surrogacy is a blessing or a curse for women is a complicated issue that greatly depends on personal preference, ethics, the law, and context.

It compromises the dignity of the mother, even if her participation is voluntary, by merely treating her as a 'womb for hire.'

Surrogacy is sometimes viewed as a type of slavery or prostitution in which the surrogate is exploited by monetary incentives, social expectations of self-sacrifice, or both. Don't you think it sounds like victim blaming?

There are compelling arguments for and against surrogacy, so its effects on women are complex and neither a "curse" nor a "boon." For some, it offers a path to parenthood, but it also raises concerns about the commodification and exploitation of women's bodies.

Many are arguing that surrogacy gives women the freedom to make their own choices regarding their bodies. Both the intended mother and the surrogate may exhibit reproductive freedom as a result.

Critics argue that surrogacy can commodify women's bodies, reducing them to vessels for reproduction and potentially leading to unethical practices.

What are your thoughts on this crucial aspect of women's lives? Is surrogacy a bio-market byproduct or a benefit/ an added advantage to motherhood?

Surrogacy is a boon and a bane. Boon for the one who wants to see her child grace this world with it being the last option she resorts to and a bane for the one struggles to bring the child into the world for purely another person’s happiness. Commercial surrogacy is a morally and legally very very wrong but if the surrogate happens to be a willing participant(generally another close family member) who wants to help the couple, I don’t see why it is wrong.

Also, adoption is thrown in the face of only couples who struggle with pregnancy. How abt ppl who have children, even they are free to adopt instead of preaching the ones who strugggle with conceiving. Surrogacy is complicated but if there is willing participation and legal binding on both sides, it can help..!
