Hello all literary IFites,

My debut book, Right Fit Wrong Shoe, was recently released courtesy Rupa Publishers. It is the story of Nandini Sharma, a passive-aggressive, emotional eating, twenty six year old, working girl. Her life could be simple but she works hard to keep it complicated. Nandini is true mix of Neanderthal philosophies and 'aaj ki aurat' (twenty first century's woman) ideology.

The story unfolds in more-than-just-a-third-world-country's city Kanpur. Nandini has been bitten, for better or worse, but definitely bitten, by Bollywood. Her spirit is undefeatable; she mocks certain death (Aditya) and suffers stoically for love (Aditya, again. Go Figure!) Her accomplice in all her escapades is Sneha Verma. That one friend who knows us better than we do and the one we trust more than Stayfree or Clearasil.

Right Fit Wrong Shoe, begins at a point where all love stories end, and because of the nuances characters and dialogue, ends up being much more than just an amorous tale. The book observes and opinionates the society, affected and amused. It fleetingly touches on issues; fleeting as watching discourses (courtesy Astha Channel) is trendier than reading them. The book also, extends a unique ode to the Indian Film Industry.

I would sincerely and humbly request you to read, Indian at core and urban in language. The book is a genuine effort, on my part, to provide the milieu of Indians, young and old, with a humorous read, without overlooking the intelligence and thinking quotient of our personalities. Right Fit Wrong Shoe, is now available, in local bookstores and online book websites.

I shall end this email with one of the many 'prize winning pun word/dialogue' (I'm quoting my editor at Rupa Publishers), from my book. Thank you.

"Nandini knew his aversion to her was temporary. Just as a fish can't live out of water, a shopaholic without credit cards, Rochak could not stay away from women. The wiring of his head was messed up; it was only dic-connected." (Chapter 2)

Best regards,

Varsha Dixit

Hi Ananya,
U r feel free to call whtever me u r comfortable with (as long as it's not gross, tht u can save 4 behind my bck . . kiddin).
Well my advice kiddo, 2 u as a newly minted writer is 2 never hve blinders on in life. Writing like any form of creativity has it's inherent roots in life, experiences and imagination. Whtever u r writing, do make sure first u finish it. If it's a short story or long complete it.
I do hve an overbooked schedule as of now but whn u feel u hve completely finished it, I'll read the first 3 chapters I promise. U r prob. the first and last person, I'll ever do this 4. So use tht opportunity very wisely when u r ready, really ready ,not simply enthusiastic abt someone published readin u'r work, contact me through my website and we'll take it from there. I will give my opinion with no strings attached, & pls always remember u know u'r work best, so don't let anyone published or unpublished, important or unimportant ever dampen u'r confidence.
All the very best. Feel free to join the RFWS group pn FB! Hope u like my work . . .
