Bollywood is all about love sweet love. Candyfloss romances, arm spreading heros, beautiful songs and all lovey dovey stuff. Sacchi itna jhoota pyaar maine kahi nahi dekha . . Ok back to the point so romance is basically sugarcoated and hyped in bolly as it is everywhere...which it has to be because its a franchise which sells like hot cakes, but still there are some movies that have managed to show luv shuv in a realistic manner. So which movie acc to you has been the most successful in showing love in the most honest, straightforward and realistic way. Bolo bolo tell tell. 😊

Off the top of my head, I think to me the idea presented in Love Aaj Kal would have been realistic. But ofcourse Saif's OTT acting and Imtiaz's frivolous and corny dialogs (I apologize if someone else wrote the dialogues) ruined it for me and rendered it hackneyed.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam-Ajay and Ash bit.(I still don't like the ending but it was a practical decision that Nandini takes.)
Akele Hum Akele Tum..-It touched a lot of senstive issues between a couple and also tackled the ego problems in a nice way.
Saathiya-Another good movie which is realistic in terms of the way the marriage is portrayed.

@ Flaviya: I agree 'bout LAK dialog. I didnt like the movie at all and dialogs were supposed to be Imtiaz's forte but big disappointment there.

I can't go beyond 'Monsoon Wedding' I'm not too sure if it falls on that genre...but this is all I can think of right now. It's a beautiful movie 👍🏼

I would agree with Monsoon Wedding and then I actually liked Love Aaj Kal and didn't think the dialogue was corny except for that scene at the break-up party. I know a lot of people said it was trying too hard to be funny - but I never got the feeling that it was trying to be funny in the first place. Anyway different interpretations I guess.

Apart from that I would say Dev D. The events it shows are pretty extreme, but for the kind of characters the film had (the outcasts) I think it was a good love story. Not sure whether "realistic" is the right word for it, but it worked for me.

Akele Hum Akele Tum would have been a decent film if I didn't already know that it was a rip-off of Kramer vs. Kramer.

I prefer Alaipayuthey to Saathiya - but yes I liked both of them.

Saathiya was a very realistic movie and both the lead characters and their problems were very real and things you could connect too.
Jab We Met was very real 😃 I wish something like this happen to me soon 😉 😆
