Mumbai: The demure and salwar-clad Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi girl Anushka Sharma is ready to set hearts of many men racing. In her next project -- a yet-untitled film directed by Parmeet Sethi and starring Shahid Kapoor -- she reinvents herself with a new image. For, this Anushka has hit the gym diligently to get a more toned look.
After appearing in a demure image in her debut film, the actor is now working hard to fit into the role of a glam girl in her next.
"I'm a thin person by nature but my next movie with Yash Raj demands me to be a super-glam girl whose body is perfectly toned. So I have hit the gym," says the young actor.
Anushka adds, "I play a girl from the city and I need a worked out curvaceous look for the film. I'm doing weight training. I don't need to do cardio as I have a high metabolic rate."
However, she firmly sets the record straight by saying she doesn't want to be just a pretty face in front of the camera."It is very important for a young actor like me to look glamourous on screen. But that is not my only intention. I cannot be just a pretty face. I will not be a satisfied person because I have a huge creative urge and I feel my work should speak for itself. When I signed Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, I knew I was not supposed to look glam. Most girls want to look glam in their debut film as it gives them a lot of attention. But I had thought about it and felt that my first movie should be all about my work," she says.
Originally from Bangalore, a bright career in films has pulled Anushka to Mumbai where she has settled down well. "My mother stays with me in Mumbai. She has shifted from Bangalore. My dad visits us often when he has the time. (She comes from an army background). But it's good to have my mother around. She didn't want me to live alone in the city," she says, smiling.
