I don't really have a problem with scenes that have nudity or sex in them as long as they are relevant to the story (For instance, in Polanski's Death and the Maiden, nudity was necessary in order to accentuate the protagonist's trauma which help the viewer understand her reason for propelling from the victim to the victimizer). However when the sex scenes or nudity are just thrown in for the hell of it, that makes the scene cringe-worthy to watch because it looks so out of place.

I absolutely abhor "fade to black" sex scenes. IMO, that is a very childish way to handle it. "Fade to black" scenes are indicative of how puerile most adults are and how society, in general, can't get over the idea of copulation. If you're going to show a sex scene, stick with it. If not, skip to the next scene without the fade-to-blackness. It'll save a few frames and not depict the screenplay person as an infantile adult of puritanical modesty.
