Gavaskar's walk out: The Australian summer of 1980-81 was totally unmemorable for Sunil Gavaskar for more reasons than one. His personal tally in tests up to Melbourne was 0 and 10 at Sydney, 23 and 5 at Adelaide and 10 in the first innings in the final test. Suddenly at the MCG with dice loaded against India he appeared to have found the much-needed form. India were cruising along at 165 without loss when Dennis Lillee brought one back and the ball struck Gavaskar in the shin region of the right pad. Umpire Rex Whitehead and bowler Lillee thought it was plumb leg before while Sunny thought he had played the ball. Umpire Whitehead was firm and adjudged Gavaskar out. India's captain walked a third of the way to the dressing room and then stopped in his tracks. He came back to the wicket, took hold of Chetan Chauhan and started to drag him back with him. Indian manager Wing Commander Shahid Durrani was quick to react and persuaded Chauhan to return back to the wicket.

Now what is my point here?
In those days, the umpires used to be from the host country and the visiting players always criticized the umpires for being biased towards their home country players. But the rules of the game were that the umpire will be from home country and his decision is final. Gavaskar still did not accept the decision and asked his team mate to walk out. Gavaskar was heavily critized for his behavior. He finally had to accept the verdict eventhough it was unfair to him. Now he was Gavaskar, one of the best bastmen in the world who had proved his supremacy beyond any doubt
Now look at these kids. They are no one yet but look at their behavior. If Sunny had to bow down and accept the decision because it was within the rules, then who these kids are? Are they thiking that they are already celebraties and can throw any tantrums they want?
