Like NDTV's Jai Jawan series -- where Bollywood celebrities visit soldiers in far-flung corners of the country, it was recently the turn of Indian Idols finalists to visit the Indo-China border.
Antara, Meenal, Monali, Yashashree, Ravi, Karunya, Amey, Panna and Sandeep scaled new heights over three days. The remaining finalists Neha and Jolly are recovering from a bout of Chicken Pox. Seen here, Monali attempts rope-climbing.
At a training camp, they were made to climb a 10-foot wall and jump, after being briefed on the proper technique. "I suppose it is every boy's dream to be a soldier. And to learn combat techniques and go through army drills was very exciting for us," said Amey.
Ravi was the best at firing practice.
Yashashree, who had reservations before she began, said, "It's all about facing your fears. We do it onstage each week and overcome them. In the same way, we had to do it again when asked to jump off a wall. After we did, however, we realised it wasn't that difficult!"
After doing what the jawans did, it was time to make the jawans do what the Idols do best -- sing!
NC Karunya takes the mike, while the jawans try out their new role.
The jawans finally take centrestage, and test their vocal cords.
The special two-part episode will be aired on Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:30 pm, on Sony Entertainment Television.
