Somehow, Sudha didn't recall Padma ill-treating her here - the worst she did was not support her against Dadi, and also, since she pampered Deepu over all 3 sisters, she was responsible, but not as directly. But in the current setting, you are right - there's only one person in the family who blindly hates Sudha, and that's Padma. Notice how, when Sudha first passed her exam and then got a job, Padma was the only one not celebrating, and instead suggesting that the occasion was ripe to marry her off and get rid of her.

I don't like the story shifting back to Sushma so soon. I want Suday's romance to develop, independent of that, so that after a while, Sudha is a normal girl, and Uday decides that it's time to ask for her hand. After that as well as maybe Suday's honeymoon, switch to 2 parallel tracks - Deepu/Panchi and Sushma/Brij.
