Warning: Looong post
First of all, regarding the Sameer "marrying" Avni promo, hats off to the Creative team. Your story is fast paced, it's full of twists and turns, you seem to have a grip on the main overall plot – almost every weekend you manage to leave us with a cliffhanger that is genuine, not contrived. Good job. 👏
Coming to Sameer – deep breath…. now that came out of the left field. Simply wasn't expecting it, I thought she would stop him, because, well after all the story progresses if Sameer is in the Gujral mansion – it doesn't make sense for him to leave a second time. But this! No way.
Shocking of course, that Sameer would actually do this. But that is the beauty of his character – Sameer is sheer gut all the way through. He's all impulse, he's all about 'what I want… now!' But what makes him charming is his innate goodness, his innate niceness, and one hopes, his internal brake system when he knows he's going tooooooo far. He's unethical, he's amoral, he can't even see until he is told that what he's doing is wrong. Just as an example: he was willing to kidnap Avni, but in the actual situation – standing there with his palm over her face — he knew he was crossing the line. He knew this was going to damage this girl's life and he couldn't bring himself to do that. His hand was loosening, he was about to let her go even before Damini appeared on the scene.
He's conscienceless enough to emotionally blackmail Avni, he relishes the power his sexuality gives him over her, he likes it that she's attracted to him, he uses it… but on the other hand, it hurts him to see her unhappy, he wouldn't hurt a hair on her head.
The problem with Sameer is that he's not a bad guy but he's too immediate. He's too in the NOW. Unlike Prithvi, he can't see ahead that this action will have a consequence. He can't see that what he is impelled to do at this moment could have grave implications, could in fact be a huge betrayal of someone's trust, that it is very unjust to someone else. To him, it's a huge game in which he's the winner if he survives that day, no more.
Many commenters feel that in 'marrying' Avni, Sameer is pushed by revenge. I don't think so. I think this guy doesn't know precisely what he's doing, doesn't know exactly what he's feeling. Frankly, Sameer knows that for his purpose of weakening Ila Gujral, it is enough for him to have an entry into the house. He said himself last week that friendship was ok, that love was too complicated.
Then why does he pursue Avni Gujral? One obvious reason of course is that she's a challenge. He knows she likes him, he knows she loves him and it is maddening for him to have her resist. He simply can't understand it, because for Sameer there is no difference between feeling and doing – if you want something and it's in front of you, you reach out and take it. Avni knows that feelings are one thing, to actually do something about it is another matter entirely – she knows she must guard herself.
The second possible reason – and you know where I'm going with this — is that Sameer loves Avni. He can't bear it if she doesn't smile at him, it kills him when she turns away from him. "Har baar muh pher leti ho, Avni…" - he can't take it.
He knows now that she's not as weak-willed as she seems. She has made up her mind that she doesn't trust him enough, not yet anyway…. and he has moved heaven and earth to convince her, tried to manipulate her in every way he knows – she hasn't given in. I appreciate how they've developed Avni. She won't make grand speeches but underneath her tears and her soft nature, she's got a core of steel. Also, she has very acute antennae for sincerity. She subconsciously knows when Sameer is in 'nautanki' mode. None of Sameer's persuasions have worked – she has made up her mind and that quite frankly is that. Sameer is coming to realise that his chui mui is in fact no pushover.
Avni is the sort of girl who believes in symbols. Marriage to her means something more than a social commitment – it's an emotional belonging. Sameer, I suspect, is also like that. He's made this 'maang' gesture out of frustration but I think he means it. At one level, Sameer is chomping at the bit to prove to Avni that she misunderstood him. And the truth is she DID misunderstand him. She asked him if he would be able to stand by her all his life – his instinctive gut answer was "YES". He kept silent for other reasons, disappeared from her life for completely different reasons. He knows that Avni thinks he backed out on an emotional promise, which was not true. He can never explain it to her, but somehow he must convince her, somehow he must commit to her.
What will happen now? I feel we're in for exciting times. Did you guys notice how utterly content Avni looked hugging Sameer? It was beautiful. Also she had her eyes closed in this completely "I surrender" manner when he was actually applying the sindoor. I don't think he's taken her by surprise, I think she has consented to this, in her heart at least. How would it be if Avni, now that she's sure of Sameer, starts being demonstrative? What if she's happy in her love and begins to show it? Allows him to lift hair off her face, smiles at him, and submits to his persistent embraces? Sameer who was a goner on the tidbits she was throwing him is going to go mad. Ladies (and gentlemen, if there are any), he won't know what hit him. *Ooohhh, shivers.*
I hope they keep it secret – I can see shades of Parineeta in the situation.

Where do I search now for my happiness
If it isn't with you, then what is the point of looking further?
