It feels as if they are changing tracks to make singing easier.Case in point: I heard Himani's Jiya Dhadak even before I heard the original. I feel Himani was good but could not stir the emotion as Rahat. and also felt that she sang on a lower scale than the original. And this is not for just Himani.. pretty much everybodyHemu's : Hai Rama.Nihira's: Kajra reVineet's: Aaja Aaja ( remember AS's comment)As these guys are not singing original compositions, the only benchmark to their singing is the original song and composition. What do you say. ?Say If I were to compare songs say"Tum Bin Jaoon Kaha" by Rafi , Kishore and Hariharan..I would put Rafi and Kishore at par and Hariharan just a notch below but immensely listenable. If one changes a track to add to it and show of their singing prowess then I am all for it. Like Shankar Mahadevan on the Saturday Night show with Ruby Bhatia..Among the singers only ID's gharana has really tried difficult songs and justified it many times and even bettered it .. like Nihira " I love you"The other gharanas have not tried it .. but the people have sung good many times.I believe if one is capable of it try it .. you may not be successful but atleast you tried.. Case in point Debu.. sometime mindblowing.. sometimes so banal..Comments guys as to the singing prowess of the contestants..<!--

When is music ever about showing off or singing something difficult? The way I see it, music is communicative...if it reaches your heart, it doesn;t make an iota of a difference as to how difficult or easy it is. In fact, a truly gifted singer sings so naturally that you cant even make out he/she is singing a difficult composition.
The only contestant who's done that in this contest on occasion in Nihira. While Debojit has attempted tough tracks, his "effort" is too obvious....somehow not really communicating with his audience. His best to me is still "Rim Jhim gire saawan"...not a diffcult composition, but one that he sang with all his heart.
As for changing tracks and scales, why not? A singer SHOULD sing in the scale they are most comfortable in. Case in point...Himani's "Chitthiye" versus the original Lataji version. Definitely Himani took the scale down, but that didn't make her song any less appealing. Am glad she didn't sing in Lataji's key coz then she would have sounded awful coz thats not her range. Similarly, Lataji couldn't sing in Himani's range either!
