Krishna humbles Arjun...
Krishna humbled Arjuna's pride during the war in an interesting manner. About the end of the war, one evening, Arjuna felt proud that Krishna was his charioteer and his 'servant'. He felt that as master, he should get down from the chariot after Krishna and not before Him. So, that day he insisted that Krishna should get down first. But, Krishna was adamant: Arjuna must come down first, He said. After wasting a long time, pleading and protesting and praying, Arjuna got down, very unwillingly, swallowing his pride.

Krishna then came down, and, immediately the chariot went up in flames! Krishna explained the reason. The incendiary arrows and missiles that had struck on the chariot were powerless so long as He was on it; but, when His presence was no longer there, they set the chariot on fire. Thus, Krishna showed that every act and word of the Lord had significance and a purpose, which mortals cannot gauge. Egoism is a tough enemy and it requires constant vigilance to conquer it.

Thanks Raj very well said and very inspiring incidence. One more incidence I know which i want to share though there are few more where Arjuna Pride was humbled by Krishna
Ones during Arjun karna war Krishna applause at karna that every bow of Karna makes the chariot go back 2 steps. At this Krishna laughs and say "oh Madhusudhan You are praising Karna because he makes our chariot to go back for two steps in his every stike!!! but can't you see my each arrow sends his(karna) chariot back for 10 steps."
On this Krishna replies "Parth your arrow strikes the chariot where two immortals are sitting but his arrow strikes a chariot where besides you i am also sitting and in me this whole universe lies, and even this chariot is st back two steps with each blow of arrow" This makes arjun realize of his futile pride and he ask apology.
Then there is few more incidence, one being arjun getting too arrogant to think he could have made the Ram-setu with his arrow, here Krishna sends Hanuman to make him realize the truth.
One incidence is there where Arjun thinks he has enough power to bring dead to life, for this he even go and challange Yamraaj to bring two dead son of a brahmin in life but in vain. He actully had took vow that he will sacrifice himself to agni if he fails. but Krishna comes and make him realize the truth. Long story though...😊

Krishna does not like his devotees to have pride so we should always humble our pride whenever we feel it.😊

Wonderful story bhai!!! Thanx so much....it def has a good example to ppl with big heads (and boy do i know quite a few of them 🤢).....
Thanx Rajnish bro for the wonderful examples you provided also...i'm rather curious to know about the story in detail of Arjun thinking he can build the Ram-Setu with his arrows, and Krishna sending Hanuman to explain!!!! Can you give the details of this story..i would love to know if you have the info!!!!
OH also...i wanted to give two examples also shown in JSK...it was one with when Bal Krishna's friend (whose mom was dying), the epi was stretched for 3-4 weeks i believe. Krishna's friends mom was on her death bed...she had so much faith and arrogance in her bhakti that she said she KNEW Krishna wud come to her before her soul departed, but wut she didn't realize was that her arrogance for her bhakti is what got to her, thereby not finding Lord Krishna close to her!!!
Another one was when one of the Gurudev's (forgot the name) from Mathura was being served by Kansa. When this gurudev was at Kansa's palace, he was happy on recieving the false sevaa of kansa!!! This got to him...in the sense of pride. When he went to Gokul, he failed to recognize his LORD (bal krishna)....He finally realized after his many failed attempts to punish Bal Krishna that he is taking up a battle against THE LORD OF THE UNIVERSE!!!! This is where BAL KRISHNA tells the rishi/guru: That he was so blinded by Kansa's fake seva, his bhakti and knowledge of the Almighty was no good to him because it turned him into an arrogant person.
****So with these examples, many ppl have so much arrogance of even their bhakti and knowledge...which is of no use since it only pushes them many steps away from GOD!!!!****

It was before the war of Mahabharata had taken place. Arjuna was traveling to different places, performing pilgrimage. In his journeys, he arrived at the famed Rameshwaram and had the darshan of Rama Setu.

Arjuna had heard from Bheeshma Pitamaha and Sri Krisna, the praises of Lord Rama as the Best of the Men, the maryada-purushottama, many times. Even during the 13 years of exile into the forests, he had heard the saga of Rama narraded by sage Markandeya. Once, during those hard days, Draupadi was kidnapped by Jayadratha, and Bheem had rescued Draupadi. Then, Pandavas were feeling very dejected that their wife had been kidnapped. Sage Markandeya had then narrated to them the story of Lord Rama and his similar ordeal, and how he had rescued Sita.

So, Arjuna was there at Rameshwaram performing pilgrimage, and with Rama on his mind he witnessed the marvel of Setu. Seeing the famed Nala Setu, A doubt arose in his mind. Krishna always says Rama was the best warrior ever, even superior to me. If Rama was really such a great archer, then why did he need to depend upon Nala and the army of vaanara s to construct the bridge? Why could he not use his archery to build a bridge of arrows? Was Rama such a good archer after all, as Krishna and Bheeshma have told me always?

Such were the doubts that arose in his mind, clouded by his ego, that he was the best archer as everyone said.

Nearby, spending time in solitude at Gandhamadan, in the meditation of Lord Rama, was Pavana-putra Kesari-nandana Mahaveer Hanuman. Hanuman is one of the chiranjivis - he never dies. There are seven chiranjivis including him. The other six being Ashwatthama, Bali, Vyasa, Vibhishana, Kripacharya and Parashurama. So Hanuman was spending his time in loving memory of his Lord Sri Rama, when he found Arjuna engaged in such thoughts.

In shape of an odinary, old vaanara, he appeared to Arjuna and addressed him. Friend, you do not know how huge-bodied and heavy our vaanara ancestors used to be. It must not have been easy to transport those thousands of crores of very heavy Vanaras across to Lanka on a bridge of arrows. All the options must have been well-considered by Lord Rama the Best, before the construction of the Setu must have been decided.

Hearing this, Arjuna became even more determined. Why! Certainly a good archer can construct a bridge which can withstand the weight of any number of creatures - what are vaanaras! If Rama was such a good archer, he must have confidently performed that feat. Even I could do that, had I been there.

Hanuman is the best of the devotees and a divine servant of Lord Rama. It is said that wherever glories of Rama are sung, he is always present with clasped hands and tear-filled eyes. So how could Hanuman hear such criticism of his master? Addressing Arjuna, he said, no archer could construct such a bridge which could withstand the weight of those vaanaras. Why, you seem to be a kshatriya yourselves, and a warrior at that! Can you construct such a bridge of arrows? It would not even withstand the weight of an old vaanara like me!

The argument ensued and resulted in a challenge. They decided that Arjuna would construct a bridge of his arrows over a nearby water-body, using his skills of archery. Hanuman would then climb on the bridge. If the bridge sustained the weight of Hanuman, then Arjuna would be considered victorious. Otherwise he would lose and enter a burning pyre.

In his arrogance, Arjuna quickly built the bridge of the arrows, and invited Hanuman to test his strength. Chanting the names of Lord Rama, Hanuman had merely kept his tail upon the bridge, that it crumbled down like a pile of sand.

As per the challenge, Arjuna readied a pyre and lit it. As he was about to enter it, a Brahmana appeared there and inquired about the matter. Brahmana was nobody but Lord Krishna who had come to save the life of his dear friend and devotee Arjuna. So Krishna, in form of the Brahman, asked them who was the witness of their agreement. There was none. A deed of challenge without a witness, Brahmana said, was not legal, and there must be one. He then offered to be that witness and asked Arjuna to perform his deed again.

This time, remembering Krishna, Arjuna built a bridge again. Hanuman now climbed the bridge. lo and behold! Nothing happened and the bridge sustained his weight.

Then all of a sudden, both Hanuman and Arjun saw that the brahmana had lent his shoulder to the foundation of the bridge, and in sustaining the weight of Hanuman, he was heavily injured and profusely bleeding. Hanuman immediately realized Lord Rama in the form of Brahmana and Arjun saw Lord Krishna.

Hanuman was very moved by this act, and was not to be consoled. Rama holding the weight of Hanuman! Lord Krishna, who is Lord Rama, then hugged Hanuman and told him that he was so much indebted by the services of Hanuman, that the debt can never be paid back.

In Treta Yuga, you have done so much for me that I am in immense debt. None can ever measure all that you have done for my mission. You carried me on your shoulders . So, I came to meet my dearest friend in dwaapar yuga and carry him with affection on my shoulders too.'

This way Krishna met his best friend Hanuman, and saved life of another, Arjuna. Hanuman promised to be Arjuna's flag-bearer upon his chariot during the war of Mahabharata.

Thanks for the story Rajnish!👏 You have explained it very nicely!
There's another story also about Hanuman breaking Bhima's pride during the Pandavas' exile. Then too, after Bhima became humble and bowed down to Hanuman, Hanuman promised him that he would be on the flag of Krishna and Arjuna's chariot and add his own roar to the sound of the conch shells, signifying to the enemy that the great Mahavir Hanuman was on the Pandavas' side.😃
Hanuman is also considered to be the brother of Bhima, since he was the son of Vayu too. During the Pandavas' exile, he appeared disguised as a weak and aged monkey before his half-brother, the Pandava prince Bhima in order to subdue his arrogance and teach him the value of humility. Bhima entered a field where Hanuman is lying with his tail blocking the way. Bhima, unaware of his identity, told him to remove it. In return, Hanuman told him to remove it himself. Bhima tries all his might but is unable to do it. Being the mighty strong warrior that he was, he realized that this being must be much more powerful and greater than him. So he asked him for his real identity. This is when Hanuman got up and revealed his identity, and the two brothers then hugged. Upon Bhima's request, Hanuman is also said to have enlarged himself and shown him the same size in which he had crossed the sea to goto Lanka, looking for Sita.
More significantly, during the great battle of Kurukshetra, Arjuna entered the battlefield with the flag of Hanuman on his chariot.[9]
