OF STARS; THEIR 'NAKHRAS', GOOF UPS AND HYPOCRISY!

'Welcome to the most spectacular show of the year', read the invite to the Stardust Awards. A spectacular show it was, one could easily say that it was an event that beat the others. For the Showbuzz team, the award ceremony holds interest for more reasons than one. It's a good hunting ground for gossip and gives a peek into star 'nakhras' and hypocrisy. Govinda was flying high as usual! While the Govinda episode has received more than its due, not many people know about the Rekha incident. Rekha's performance was kept hush hush but news about her performance soon leaked out. This generated quite a bit of excitement. Now started her demands. A day before the event she called up the event manager and demanded that a Mercedes Benz be sent to pick her up from her house in Juhu to the venue. The reason being her car was at the service station. When the event manager refused to comply with her demands but assured her that he would instead send her his car, she refused point blank! A hired Merc or no performance! So an extra 15,000 was shelled out by the organizers to ferry her from Juhu to Bandra and back. But we have to add that she had the audience spellbound when she performed. It's exactly like Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, "This is the only real star we have. No one can match her charisma."
Now this one is something to think about. We all know that Akshay Kumar was backstage when his name was announced as one of the winners. But the truth is that he was parked in Saif Ali Khan's van. Must have been for old times sake but Akshay was taken unawares when his name was announced. He came running on stage and was very nervous. Surprising but he even developed stage fright, we heard. All that he could manage was a fumbled thank you. This is hilarious considering he had prepared a thank you speech and even rehearsed it. Now if you found this one hilarious then what you read now beats it hollow. Shiney Ahuja who knew he was definitely a winner was unfortunately stuck in a traffic jam. Believe it or not, he kept calling up the organizers to inform them of his progress. Obviously they couldn't change the order of the prizes for him but luckily he had just reached the gate when his name was being announced. An excited Shiney left his car and did a mini marathon up to the stage. Not that anyone in the audience knew about this. Now comes the best part. He started his thank you speech with, 'It's a wonderful feel to be standing in front of such a lovely audience!' Now isn't this the height of hypocrisy considering he hadn't even had a glimpse of the audience! But one thing has been proved. He's truly a good actor! And while he was receiving his award, his car was being parked by one of the attendants.
Let's get on to more serious talks. Amar Singh walked in with Jaya Bachchan (a Stardust loyalist) and sure enough we couldn't miss the look on our CM's face. Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh wanted to get up and leave immediately but was convinced into staying as he was to give away Dilip Kumar's 'Lifetime Achievement' award. Now that was enough bitchy stuff to last us till the next Stardust Awards. Looking forward to it!
