Excerpts from the Interview: Kunal Ganjawala is the name now everybody knows. How do you feel about it? I feel definitely very happy looking at what I've achieved comparing it with the hardships that I've faced. I'm thankful to God that he gave me the right opportunity at the right time and didn't make me wait for success for long. For five years I had struggled hard to find work and there was nobody who wanted to give me a chance. But like an optimistic I was determined to give it a try again and again. Now I work with those people who were never ready to give me a chance. But I'm happy with everything. Do you believe that 'Bheege Hooth' changed it all for you? When I sang the song I had never imagined in my wildest of dreams that it would become such a huge hit. I only rehearsed for half an hour and recorded it in 20 minutes in a single take. There has been vast change in the Indian film industry and a direct impact of that has been on the music scene as well. The audio industry now has the ability to stand on its own. Singers can playback and also cut their individual album. They're no less than celebrity. But there is a negative thing too as music and lyrics are no more the same like the past. The preference is more on delivering quantity than quality. But we also have some great musicians, composers and lyricist ruling the roost.
Why not! Shreya Goshal and myself have begun our career from the talent shows. It is a great platform to portray your skills and also get noticed. The appreciation and praises can make a whole lot of difference to your confidence. For a struggler it is indeed great. But after that you're the writer of your own fate. Your wife Gayatri is also a great singing talent? Yes she is a star in her own right after starring in a Broadway play 'Far Pavilions' in the main lead. She also got the chance to portray her best singing in films like 'Black' and 'Salaam Namaste'. We're a great singing couple! |
