dev is ila singh's step brother, he indirectly hates her but is under her favor as she has made his carrer, and this is obvious,as he has lost his leg he is in the academy becoz of ila singh, and can't openly go against her and support pavani and her mother, but he is well determined to take revenge from ila so he desperately wanted pavani to come to mumbai,and fight for her mother as he could'nt, he is helping them in disguise.And nor could he help pavni in admission as ila singh would come to know of pavni and dev's connection which would go against them. So he would act as a stranger to pavni in the academy.
