excess Taser gun use-by U.S police dpt

There have been several News reports about the cops liberaly using taser guns( a gun that shoots a wire from which very high voltage electercitywire with needle comes out and the needle is shot at a person..........thats sends electric shock for 10 seconds in to the body ) on unarmed people /armed people. Even for minor misdeamours like traffic rule violation .example a woman who did a traffic violation.....cop asked her to get out of the car and put her arms in sight ..........This (foolish) woman started opening her cell phone and did not listen .......the cop tasered her immediately........she was unarmed ............apparently the woman had medical problem and had complication and later sued the police Dpt )

Often its caused physical harm on the person on whom its used . Example its caused medical problems - if the person has heart problem , is pregnant . Its lead to deaths even in some cases where the person had serious medical problems .

Cops say that they rather Taser a person than get shot at in the line of duty as has happened in some unfortunate cases .

In my opinion , the police don't try too hard and don't use the skills they learnt in Police Academy to catch and arrest a person without causing harm . Shouldn't they try and physically grab a person who they are suspicious of or the risk is too much for the Police and they must taser a person .

Lets debate on this issue .😛

well, i think thats kind of unfair. although, i've never heard of this stuff

I know we have incidents about cops being killed or attacked by when trying to stop a speeding person and other criminals.

I would still think it is not a good practice for police department to use taser gun. Example suggested by you is valid for police to use this gun. How would police know that woman was unarmed and if she was trying to get her gun out rather than her cell phone. That woman was definetly foolish. When you are held by cop you are not suppose to move or try to do anything darn thing!!! thats bottom line.

I would think that police would not use their taser gun just to a normal person. They would only use it when you disobbey police order. Follow the rule and you are out of trouble ..!!

However, they should definetly try to handle situation with better option. But when cop gets hold of you.. you better follow what he says and not try to move or do anything else. If you do, then one should be ready to bear consequences.
