We know that Kanji had a child whom he handed over to Chagan and Reva. We do not know if it is a girl or a boy or who the mother of the child is. The possibilities are endless. herer are a few I can think of:
The baby is a boy
1.And is the son of Kanji and Moti (either through rape or actual liason). Moti may have wanted to get rid of the baby at first but may have been coaxed by Shubi to have it. Shubi may have passed the baby as hers. When the baby was born, Kanji kidnapped it and handed over to Chagan who in turn could have returned the baby back to the DM household. This baby could be Hiten. That makes DM, Hiten's uncle and not his father but Santo would become his maasi and maasi's sister is still his maasi. Not much of untangling here but BT is known to have used a similar track in KS where Saahil who is Jai's nephew marries Rano who is Bani's sister (same maasi-bhaanja relationship as Jai and Bani were husband and wife).
If Hiten is the baby in question, it would explain why Kanji did not suspect that Santo could be the child he is looking for. For one she is a girl and for another the child he gave up may be much older than her.
2.And is the son of Shubi and Kanji. Now that would imply that Shubi was preg before marriage and since Moti dearly loved Shubi (who was also her friend), she covered up the truth and pretended that the baby was DM's. Again the baby may have been returned back to the DM household and is now known as DM's eldest son Hiten when in reality he is neither related to Moti or DM. This would pave the way for Hiten-Khemi union as there is no relationship whatsoever between them.
The baby is a girl
1.And is the daughter of Kanji and another unknown woman who may have died delivering the baby. Kanji had done something which has earned the wrath of Moti and her father who had him locked up. Fearful of the safety of the child, Kanji left the child with the Wagelas who raised her up as their own. This baby could either be Santo or Khemi. I think if this is the case, it is most likely to be Khemi rather than Santo since Kanji did not suspect her to be the baby. Maybe the baby was very fair and had lbrown eyes, both of which does not fit Santo's looks.
2.And is the daughter of Kanji and Moti. Shubi may be aware of the truth. Since she was pregnant with Maulik at the time (remember Khemi and Maulik are of the same age) , she could have told Moti that they will pass off Moti's kid also as hers, saying that she delivered twins but as soon as Moti delivered the baby, Kanji could have swooped and carried away the kid. Seeing that he has taken away the baby, Moti would have got the police on him. Before being trapped, he left the baby with the Wagelas. This would make Khemi, Moti's daughter and Hiten would then become her first cousin. I think that would make H-K even more of a taboo because now there are blood ties and not just a quirky relationship born of an incongrous marriage.
There could be any number of permutations and combinations but the introduction of Kanji Wagela has really turned intriguing. Btw why was he in prison for nearly 19 years or more? The maximum prison sentence in India is 14 years, isn't it? And that is for murder. If he is in for murder, who has he murdered? Could it be that he had murdered Moti's real lover or Moti herself had murdered someone and the blame has been shifted to Kanji? There is still the unsolved dacoity incident when Moti and friends were trapped by two dacoits. Could one of them be Kanji?
