Part 13-

In the coming weeks or even months all that they remembered was the fun and the consolance they had felt in each others company. It was like a whole new bond that formed between them. Every other day they met up at someones place and had fun. And whatever happened no one considered too big a thing to get dejected, they would calmly accept the situation and the inner self.

And slowly within 3-4 months they became as close as though they were handcuffed to each other. One moment away from each other would mean a hundred questions which poured within 5 minutes on the phone.

Abhinavs health slowly declined over the months, till it became difficult for him to get up and move around. Thats when they stopped the outings and let him rest.

But for abhinav the biggest and most important thing was the new found happiness of his life. It was like life had given him a second chance, to live to smile and to be like any other normal guy. Maybe he was ill physically, but with these new friends he slowly started to heal mentally. He started to forgive himself for all the pain he had caused to his father, his friends and most importantly to himself.

The feeling he felt over these three or four months felt more like living again, like he used to once, when that was even he couldn't recall. But there was a time when he had been happy and loving and friendly, and obedient to his dad. Probably when his mom was still alive. Atleast that was what he remembered his moms love, before he had given up on his life and had left to new York.

When his mom had died, it had felt like the world crashed down around him. He, abhinav had always wanted to be a musician and his mom had supported his decision, but his dad, his dad had been unforgiving and unmolifiable. He had ruined every dream and aspiration of abhinavs with his forceful do MBA thing. He had forced him into knowing what it would result in. And abhinav had hated him for that.

By the time he reached the place where MBA classes were taken, he was too late. He could no longer feel any emotions, just pain, helpless pain. He didn't even know if there was an inner self alive inside him anymore. Thats where it had all started. It had started with a innocent cigarette, which someone had used to play a trick on him. Unaware of the fact that it was somewhat drugged he smoked. Slowly it went on to more cigarettes and drugs. Not drugs like cocaine but the ones like heroin.

Then one fine day he and his band members planned a get away to perform in a concerto. By the time they reached there abhnavs conscious was taking over him, with nervousness and a wish to prove himself he took them again and again. The drugs. And in the heady feeling that followed a rush of ecstaticness pourd out and it was ruined. He and his habit of drugs had not only ruined his future but also his 3 other band members who had been highly dependant on this show. When he returned to the mba institution he found out about how his locker had been checked and had been found filled with drugs and cigarettes. The reason why the mba institution expelled him.

Helpless of the time and situation he left for new York vowing never to touch those things again. But it seemed like even god was against his decision. With no hope and money, he finally started working in a bar, where he again got addicted to them.

But now, now he didn't need them that much. Neither did he want to have them. Although at times his temptation got the better of him. Yet he would stop himself by reminding himself what the doctor had said- any more drugs and that would be end of you abhinav. I hope you understand.

A few days later, when abhinav was alone at home, he slowly wheeled his wheelchair down the lobby into the livng room to have his medicines. He opened the drawers but his medicines weren't there.

He scratched his head and opened the last door when suddenly the familiar smell flooded through him, he was about to close the door but the drawer was stuck. Abhinav opened his eyes and looked into the drawer, at all those packets of drugs that his uncle had taken from his closet on the doctors orders.

He slowly put out his hand and picked up one, and felt the powdery mushiness in his hands. Unable to control himself he put it out on his hand and smelled it.

2 hours later-

Abhinav lay there on the floor, his whole body still as a statue holding in his hands the last and the most painful temptation he had faced before he had died.
