Salman Khan has gifted designer watches worth nearly Rs 10 crore to friends and family. Now, acting on his mother's advice, he has found a golden method of beating his exorbitant gifting habit.
His charity foundation Being Human has begun to manufacture its own brand of in-house designer watches.
Le lo...
The first recipient of the Being Human designer watch was actor Aseem Merchant, Salman's new drinking buddy and his co-star from Boney Kapoor's Wanted. They were drinking on Friday night, when Salman got characteristically generous.
Sallu's history of generosity saw him take off his Rolex watch and gift it to Abhishek Bachchan. The actor also sent a watch to Ranbir Kapoor, years after they had a scrap at a Mumbai hotspot. There have also been other stars who've received watches from Sallubhai.
Says Aseem, "He gave me his the first Being Human watch. It's awesome. Its look and movement are as slick as the exclusive Swiss Breitling watches. He mentioned that his mom advised him to find a way of cutting down costs on his watch-gifting habit. He gave me the watch and said, 'Your time begins now'."
Apart from the watch, the first of its kind from Salman's collection, Aseem also received a Being Human shirt. "He made me strip and try on the tee. I've been shooting with him for a year."
Aur lo!
Salman's largesse doesn't end with the watch and tee. He also gifted his co-star a role in brother Arbaaz Khan's first production, which will feature Salman and Shatrughan Sinha's daughter Sonakshi, to be directed by Abhinav Kashyap.
"Since I play the antagonist with Salman in Wanted he said he wanted me to do a positive role in the film."
Ironically, the real-life buddies are at each other's throat throughout Wanted. "Salman and I have real basic fist to fist street fights. We were fighting on the sets and drinking together once the camera was switched off," says Aseem.
