i'll try to explain....don't really know but i have watched enough movies and serials 😆 when the groom takes out his slippers the brothers/cousins of the groom are in charge of them...because the girls from the bride's side will try to take them and give them back only after they have gotten some money from the groom...that's why kalpana told sudha to take care of the slippers untill she gets her money....they have a name for getting money...can't remember...so the brothers are in charge of the slippers..but here they lost them and not to any family members of the bride but to little children..that's why they said that it would be better if they lost to the saali....atleast then they would have some izzat but with childeren they can't even compete so their izzat (not really their izzat) is gone....that's about it

Thanks for explaining this. So that 'naig' thing is the money Sudha would get from Pankaj if she managed to retain the slippers? But knowing Sudha, she won't accept any cash unless Kalpana forces her 😆 (and Jyoti, being the bride, can't do squat 😆)

But looks like setting the stage for another Uday-Sudha encounter

All through India, there are lots of time where the groom has to dish out money to his salis if he wants to get married - for instance, after he is welcomed to the house of the bride, his salis may stop him at the door and ask for cash to let him in. They may also ask for cash before they allow him to garland her at the beginning of the wedding. There is cash for the shoes. Also, at the reception, the groom may be asked for money before he is allowed to sit by the bride. so lots of money.
