ALBUMS
1)SAPNE KI BAAT(1997)
SAPNE KI BAAT
SINGER :- SONU NIGAM
MUSIC :- RAJU SINGH
CASSETS & CD :- T SERIES
This album all together has 8 tracks and they all very different from each other. Good attempt for the 1st album.
CD opens with title track SAPNE KI BAAT.
Take a guess what this sapne ki baat ho sakati hain, basically in this song sonu is telling his friends about the girl he likes, called pooja and he wants to say I love you pooja, but every time he tries to tell her, that pooja I love you. He ends up saying pooja pooja pooja. He would like to dedicate this song to all the pooja;s in the world. Hay lucky you all girls called pooja.
Moving on to second song '' GAR MERA BAS CHALE'' in this song sonu is telling us that if could have his own way, he would have laid the skies down for her (love of his life) basically he is saying that all the things he would like to do for her bur alas! She is no more. listen to the song its good. He has sung it well. It feels that his singing straight from his heart.
The third song PAPA I AM SORRY is all about misery of a young man fearing his untimely end due to ''aids'' and he confesses to his papa ( dad). Listen to is for your self and see what u think, I personally think its good the way its been sung & the way he is confessing.
The next track called UDLAY UDLAY CHAHE JAHAN good bit with fast music makes move around. In this track he is telling her ( love of his life) how he loves her & how bad world is out there. But no matter what he will take care of her, will be there for her where ever she goes.
The fifth song called ZINDAGI KA HAATH CHOOM LOON. Imagine the disturbance, pain and agony, uncertainties and gloominess of life in the beginning of the song and then a ray of hope through a flute. This is another fast track in CD and something one would prefer to listen to while driving on long road.
Next track called WHOHI NEELI JEEL SA HAI AASMAN is basically all about the way one would feel, when he returns back to his birth place from the city he lives in now. Memories of all the things one would have done in his childhood. The feeling of nostalgia.
The seventh track called KIYA KYON DHOKHA well the title tells all about it so I don't have to tell anything else but especial thing about this track is that sonu him self has actually attempted to create a complete song, from writing lyrics, composition, music arrangement and singing and of course playing all the instruments. Listen to it for your self and decide what you think, not bad for first timer.
All I can say is good luck and hopefully in future we will get to hear more of sonu's own compositions. Final track on CD called MAIN TO CHALA is all about one looking for glory & reach his (manzeel) final destination. Again this one is fast track delivered well by sonu.
2)KISMAT(1998)
A few tunes and some moons later, Kismat, the album had taken shape. It is pure pop music that encapsulates Sonu the artiste in a nutshell. From the hooky 'Tu' to the lush 'O Sudha', every song gives Sonu the space to demonstrate his God gifted singing ability. The tunes composed painstakingly by Biddu, are instantly memorable and the lyrics kept deliberately simple, will have you singing along instantly. Who said it was easy to create Kismat? When it came down to choosing the song for first video, everybody had an opinion, which is great but not when that opinion differs in each case! So we fought long and hard and Kismat finally decided that 'Tu' would be the chosen one. Sonu had a little dance step that everyone loved, which we knew would be pure magic when handed over to the best dance director in the country - Saroj Khan. And magic it is that video director Anubhav Sinha has created, using Saroj Khan's dance steps, Sonu's agility and Bipasha Basu's bewitching beauty.
Apart from 'Tu', there are some great songs on the album. The title track (okay, okay we won't mention the name again!) is a thumping good time about Sonu reading his horoscope in the morning paper, 'ABC' is dance music with a chant while 'Bus Stop' could best be described as melancholic bhangra! Interesting? Read on, if you want to know what Kismat is all about. Perhaps a unanimous favourite on the album is 'O Sudha' that could go down as a classic in Indian pop. Not heavy, not frivolous, the song deals with a childhood romance that broke up when Sudha's parents moved to another town. 'Ma Ke Jaisi' has Sonu hoping that his woman will be like mother in many ways while 'Pyar Ki Kasam' is a straight ahead love song. That's not all, there's more to your Kismat. Listen to it to find out because you can't get away from it.... Just look how many times you read it here!

6)CHANDA KI DOLI(2005)
Sonu Nigam has reached unparalleled heights in his craft. He is a top-notch singer of the industry right at this moment, dominating both the Indipop and play back scenario. With enormous film songs to his credit, he also has a list of successful music albums. Apart from playback singing, he believes that music album helps in compassing a singer's talent. An album is a platform which gives the scope to present ones flair in a wider spectrum. His belief is true to his regard as he has climbed the ladder to success through music albums. The likes of albums 'Deewana', 'Jaan' and 'Yaad' have brought in popularity and recognition giving a boost to his career. He released his latest album 'Chanda Ki Doli' recently. It's an out-and-out romantic album, for which he has composed as well as given his voice. The lyrics are by Nusrat Badr. The album opens with 'Chanda Ki Doli' where you can witness the superlative vocal of Sonu weaving magic. It's a soft and romantic number that catches your ears from the first shot itself. The lyrics wonderfully melt in with the gripping music. It's a top-notch track that works wonder in every stream. The song is another addition to the best of Sonu. The softness and subtlety of the former track turns into a groovy and jazzy one with 'Rafta-Rafta Nazar'. This one is more of a foot tapping number with a fine tempo and pacy beats flowing through it. The song is enjoyable from every account. 'Paagal Hoon Main' the next track turns out to be of romantic temper. With love as the base theme, there is a tempo in the song that Sonu has built up well. Sonu gets into the heart and soul of the song to give the desired effect. This is another song that will directly touch you, making it a memorable affair. Lyrics and music call for trumps. Romance fills the air again when 'Mujhe Tumse Milke Kehna Hai' starts playing. This is the third romantic melodic song of the album and lives upto the expectations of the listeners. Sonu has again justified the song with his honey touched vocals and quixotic music. Next comes 'Tu'. Don't confuse it to another song with the same title that Sonu has sung for his music album at the initials of his career. 'Tu' can be rightly dedicated to ones love. With a tap and tango feel flowing through it, it goes out to be a good track though departing from the category the former tracks fell into. 'Chale Aao' is a head on likeable song. There is beat and pulse that will appeal to you at the very first instance. The music is fresh and novel sounding. The zippy and the zingy feel will make the teenyboppers love it. This is the only song in the album that has been remixed by Akbar Sami. But don't mistake it for any other remix number. The music just sticks to the basics and with the fast music and singing it'll surely find a way to the charts. 'Tumne Mohabbat Ki' another song that'll hung to your lips. The music and lyrics are simple yet graceful. To the already flowing good will of the album, here is another addition. At the closure is 'Tu Hi Bata' another great song making its mark. This is one of the frontier tracks of this already good album. It falls into the romantic genre, keeping the lovey dovey feel of the album on rise. 'Rehne De' brings an end to the album. The song boasts of melody leaving a hang over long after it's heard. Chanda Ki Doli is an awesome romantic collection. Sonu Nigam rightly deserves all the credits for his wholesome singing and superb compilations. It is a known fact to us that he is a good singer, but his potentiality as a composer comes in front of us for the first time. He again throws light on his versatility and talent, proving that he is surely the uncrowned king of his territory! |
