This year viewers feasted on four dance based reality shows Nach baliye-4 ,jhalak diklaa jaa-3,Dancing queen and Dance India Dance. Probably viewer fatigue had set in and the first three shows despite being armed with celebs did not generate the expected TRPs. But to the surprise of the industry the show Dance India Dance which did not boast of any big faces was on top of the heap. Does the show's popularity mean that audience tastes are changing? Is the Indian audience now ready for a real reality show with real faces?
For the channel DID was their number two show and Zee laughed all the way to the bank as contestants put their best foot forward. And how! Whether it was flamingo, tap dancing, contemporary dancing, popping and locking, fusion or traditional the contestants showcased it all. Now that the show has reached its final stage viewers can expect a true grand finale.
If sources are to be believed then the channel has erected a set worth lakhs that spreads over an area of over 100 sq ft. 12 cranes and 890 workers are working on erecting the set.
A source from the show informs, "The finale is going to be rocking. With all the three mentors showcasing never-seen-before different forms of dancing, the finale promises to be nothing less than a glorious affair. Something that people will remember for ages. All the top 18 contestants and their mentors will perform live. In addition there will be a special act by the talented handicapped Kamlesh."
An upbeat Terence says, "I have been going crazy with the show coming to a conclusion. For the one final time I want to sweep the audience with all the acts that I have finalised for Jai, Alisha and Salman. I have been unable to get sound sleep as this is the finale of DID. I am cynical about TV shows and to add to it, I don't watch too much of television myself. But DID has raised the bar."
Talking about the performances, Terence divulges, "My performance will be a mix of different dance forms. I will perform jazz, funk, salsa, contemporary and tap dance. For Jai, I have decided on the SRK number from Don, as he a huge Shahrukh fan. There will be mirrors all around him and he will come out of a glass tube breaking it into pieces. Alisha will come on the stage in a lotus. And then will render the famous dialogue from the old flick Pakeeza, and the next moment you will see her dancing on a hip-hop number. It is more or less like a princess transforming into a diva. There will be a trapeze act performed by Alisha and Salman which is the highlight of the show. This is a spectacular act, something that has not been attempted ever on TV or films."
