CHRISTMAS TIME @ INDIAN IDOL STUDIO!!

It was Christmas time at Indian Idol Series 2 and guess who played Santa? Our very own Anu Malik!
The composer was there to grant wishes of people on Christmas Day. Model Shonali Nagrani made the first wish demanding a chance to host the show just for once. Her wish was promptly granted and Mini Mathur was rested for the day.
Next in line were the seven boys who came to try their best to gain a spot in the gala round. Unfortunately, all Anu 'Santa' Malik could give them was best wishes as he too doesn't have the power to grant any wishes in the gala rounds.
"It's only the Indian audience who can give you the present you desire. All I can say is just do your best and leave the rest on to destiny," he explained to the contestants.
The contest began a little while after Santa took his seat next to Farah Khan and Sonu Nigam. Little while after because there was another special guest who had to take his place to spread the 'Holiday' cheer on the sets. Dino Morea made an appearance to promote his new film 'Holiday', The adorable hunk expressed his amazement at the mental strength shown by the contestants in handling a high-pressure game like this one. He too wished the contestants the very best before he sat down with the jury to enjoy the performances that were to follow.
First came Panna Gill from Mumbai whose rendition of 'Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil De' received a mixed reaction from the jury. While Sonu felt that Panna needed to polish his voice, Farah said his performance was good, though not extraordinary. But all the judges were unanimous in their praise for Panna's smile, which they compared to that of Saif Ali Khan's!
Jaipur-based Javed Khan followed next and his performance was applauded by one and all. He sang 'Saathiya Tere Bina Nahi Jeena'. Farah asked him to work on his presentation, but termed his performance as the best of the season.
Then came the turn of Bikaner boy Sandeep Acharaya. His performance of 'Nasha Yeh Pyar Ka Nasha Hai' received a rave review from the jury. Sonu said that he seemed to have been inspired by Udit Narayan and felt Sandeep would be a great playback singer. Farah agreed with Sonu and the opinion that Sandeep may not be suitable for live shows as his voice and personality were more at ease behind the scenes than on stage.
Delhi based Desh Gaurav Singh wasn't too happy with his own performance. Nor was the jury. He sang 'Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya' and appeared very hyper during his performance. The jury termed it a rushed up job but liked his voice. Anu and Farah advised him to control his singing and his performance while on stage. Desh himself felt that he had been extremely nervous when he stepped on to the stage to perform.
Nakash Aziz too sang extremely well. But he had a tiff with the judges, especially Anu Malik. Anu commented that some notes in the song 'Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein Phir Tum Aao Na' that he sung were wrong and told him to learn the proper notes before attempting a song like this. .
At this, Nakash immediately commented that he doesn't agree with Anu and said he felt he had sung the song perfectly. While Sonu liked his performance overall, he warned Nakash not to brush aside the jury's comments as he had just done.
"We are the jury because we know music, at least more than you do. If you feel offended when we try to correct you then you shouldn't be in this show," he said. Later on, Nakash said that he had been carried away by his excitement and felt apologetic about it. It all, though, ended on a pleasant note with everyone applauding his performance.
After that little battle, Himachal boy Anuj Sharma stepped on to the stage and began 'Tujhe Dil Mein Basa Toh Lu'. The high-pitched song was really difficult to sing according to Sonu, but Anuj managed to execute it perfectly well. Anu felt his sincerity and hard work was visible in the performance and felt he definitely deserved a place in the next round. Farah too agreed with Anu and also felt this was the best performance of the day.
Finally, Mumbai's very own Amey Date, one of the favorites of the jury, sang 'Tu Hi Re'. Anu Malik gave him a standing ovation and declared he would be amongst the top two contenders for the title. Sonu and Farah too appeared confident that Amey would best the opposition and emerge the winner.
The songs have been sung, the judgments of the jury have been passed. Now it's the time for you - the audience - to vote and decide the future of these contestants. After all, in the end it's going to be your Agla Indian Idol who will walk away with the plaudits and the goodies.
