In the hitlist of best actors 2005!

They're the superstars and they're the rock stars! They're the Bollywood actors and hunks who made us fall for them again and again in 2005. We got swooned by their eyes, wept at their emotions and smiled along with them. The year got extra special with their macho images, as they made us laugh, cry and romance!

Ruling the roost of the year is none other than Akshay Kumar. The year belonged to him and he was blessed with one hit after another. Keeping variety as his watchword we saw him delivering emotion, comedy, romance and action with aplomb. 'Waqt: The Race Against Time', 'Bewafaa' and 'Garam Masala' became his most reckoning hit of the year. Tagged 'Comedy King' and already credited as the best star of the year by a New York daily, Akshay Kumar is definitely the man of the season.

He left his flamboyance of 'Hum Tum' behind and turned into a grave lover with 'Parineeta' to get into a cool character again in 'Salaam Namaste'. Saif Ali Khan bagged the National Award for best actor and unleashed himself as a serious actor at the forefront. He just marched ahead in the lead role and lo what a performance he delivered! Next year will definitely prove better than this with Saif getting more selective.

For darling Abhishek Bachchan, this year proved to be a crown on his head. After long he tasted success and the box office spoke of his confidence. The industry and the trade has already termed him as the superstar in the making, with all the elements of his father Amitabh Bachchan present in him. 'Bunty Aur Babli', 'Sarkar', 'Dus' and 'Bluffmaster' all are the top-notch film of AB Jr.

Ranking next is the Big Bachchan. He is 63 today and has also survived through a surgery. But he can give the youngsters a run for their money. He is bagging the best offers, is busy with his lead roles and is all over Bollywood. 'Black', 'Waqt: The Race Against Time', 'Bunty Aur Babli' and 'Sarkar' glorifies the glory of the living legend. His other important releases of the year were 'Paheli', 'Virrudh', 'Dil Jo Bhi Kahey' and 'Ek Ajnabee'.

John Abraham keeping pace with the super success of 'Dhoom' last year, delivered once again with 'Kaal' and 'Garam Masala'. To lace it, the critics also acclaimed his performance in Deepa Mehta's 'Water'. Another interesting thing to notice is that his fan following has doubled in the process, both at home and in overseas.

Handsome hunk, dashing actor and controversy king - you can call Salman Khan by all this name. The allegations of telephonic conversations didn't give him a very good time personally, but professionally he was able to pull fine. His comedies 'Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya' and 'No Entry' proved to be the biggest garners. However there were not many takers for 'Kyon Ki'.

Macho Sanjay Dutt also had his share of controversy and films. Though the Abu Salem link always kept pestering him at the back of his mind, professionally he proved his credentials with 'Dus', 'Parineeta' and 'Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi'. Otherwise 2005 wasn't happening much for him!

Mainstream messiah Shah Rukh Khan laid all time low this year. He only had one release with Amol Palekar's 'Paheli' and that too failed to make an impact at the box office here, though overseas the film was able to fetch back the production value for him. only the Golden Globes might act as a wonder for him now.

Emraan Hashmi, sang to hit songs this year, though couldn't credit himself with a hit films. The hit and popular songs of the year are the ones featuring him - Ashiq Banaya Aapne (Aashiq Banaya Aapne) and Woh Lamhe (Zeher).

Coming as a surprise at last is Boman Irani. He displayed his caliber well with his films this year, with the role credentials of 'Waqt' and 'Home Delivery'.

Missing to feature in our list is Aamir Khan, whose much-awaited 'Mangal Pandey' failed at the box office. Shahid Kapoor after a year with 'Deewane Huye Paagal' also couldn't spark magic. Bobby Deal also missed the hit with 'Jurm' and 'Barsaat'. Anil Kapoor also had few releases and got appreciated for his unconventional roles and a terrific one in 'No Entry'. Ajay Devgan had a disastrous time before 'Apaharan' proved as a savior. Vivek Oberoi, Arjun Rampal, Suniel Shetty were failures as a whole. For these actors we tell them to keep trying and have the best next year!
