Good question Suks. Not sure. Maybe be forced to accept Santo as his Chhoti-ma. But then what good is that when DM himself does not accept her as a wife yet.

Stay away from his loved ones? But then who else has he shown any love to besides Kadu!

LOL Mru!! initially i thought the same...and then i read Mombs' post about it not replacing the old one...so i come to the conclusion that Hiten should have just apologized to Naanu and his family...and promise never to do it again. i mean death is too harsh.

Mombs, at the end of the day its a cow.. Emotions apart, that definitely is not reason enough to take Hiten's life.. And I feel even Santu understands that... If DM wasn't being browbeaten by those damn villagers, i think the punishment would've been something simpler / smaller...

I thought about that one as well, forcing Hiten to accept Santu as his mum.. Then realised that would never happen.. DM loves Subhi way too much for that to happen.. Hiten will have to be the one to initiate that, if he ever does that is...

Sammie, an apology is not enough either. It does not make the pain of losing someone so close any easier. And that's no justice to the wrong doing of killing such a special cow.

Now I am not saying Hiten did it so punishing him is wrong in the first place.

He should be given a cow to raise his own. Give him bhoori so he can be her mother!! LOL

yes Mru, at the end of the day it's a cow. But I have seen how a cow is worshipped like a goddess in the villages. So it's not far-fetched to see this reaction.

And DM told moti-ben na that even he believes a cow is a mother. Yes gaan wale are pushing him to the edge but some of it is his own belief too.

Well honestly,

I was NOT surprised when the villagers demanded hanging even before they knew the culprit was supposedly Hiten .. there are hardliners who will accept this punishment for killing a cow .. it is very much possible ..

The saddest thing in this scenrio is that Hiten has left no doors open!

True Suks. By not speaking up he let it happen to him. Him and DM both have huge egos and are always at loggerheads. That will surely get them in trouble.

I have no idea how Santo or anyone else is going to save him but am totally looking forward to it. And in return hope to see him respecting her some.
