i really don't know... if i were the sarpanch and i'm at a tricky situation, then i think the easiest way out wud be to let nanaji decide how to or what punishment to be given to Hiten (as long as the punishment doesn't take another life)
or maybe, make Hiten work like a common man,and look after nanaji family for a period of time by staying at their house (which may lead to Khemi and Hiten meeting, maybe lead to their love story to start😉 which i really don't think is a good idea😆)... or maybe do something religious to make up for his sin considering it being a religious crime.
if i am asked to give a harsh punishment.. then maybe gets his ass whipped😆😆

But yes asking Nanaji what he wants to do would not work because the villagers already know that he was trying to hide the evidence and is biased and confused!
