Gopi arrives and is warmly welcomed by his brother,SIL and niece. SIL complaints Gopi has lost a lot of weight but Gopi tells her he has actually put on a few kilos. SIL asks if Gopi will stay for long or will be going back. Gopi says he has returned for good and will be staying with them. Gopi's brother tells his wife to bring food for them and sends her to the kitchen. Gopi goes in and his brother notices Gopi upset and asks him what is wrong. Gopi tells his brother that he has lost his job due to the present economic situation. Gopi's brother tells him not to worry as he will easily find job here. He tells Gopi that everyone is happy to have him with them.

Big brother goes outside and is sad thinking about his brother. He goes to the kitchen and wife asks what is wrong. Seeing her husband cry, she asks what is wrong. He tells his wife that Gopi has lost his job. He is sad that Gopi is upset about losing his job and cannot bear to see Gopi sad. He tells his wife not to say anything about his job and tells her to put out the food. Wife too is sad and cries. Karthik rides on his bike. His cell rings and it is Gopi. Karthik does not recognizes the voice at first and is surprised to hear his friend is back from London. Gopi asks Karthik to go and see him immediately.

Karthik and Gopi meet and talk. Gopi asks if everyone at home is fine. Karthik says everyone is fine except they are3 years older. He says his father is still the same. Mother is still as patient as before, putting up with his nonsense. Meena is stillin college. He is working as an accountant. He does not say anything about Ranjini. Gopi asks if there has been any changes and Karthik says n. Gopi keeps asking but Karthik finally tells him to come to his house and see for himself.

Karthik goes home and tells everyone about Gopi returning from London. Ranjini hears this and smiles. Saradha too is thinking about something and goes inside.

Ranjini's flashback:

The door bell rings...........Ranjini comes down and asks who he is. Gopi just looks at her. THODARUM'

Flashback continues...............

The marriage broker visits Rajagopal and talks to him about raasi and natchatiram. Ranjini and Saradha are also there. Gopi comes in and asks what they are talking about. Rajagopal tell Gopi that the broker can tell everything just by knowing a persons natchatiram and raasi. Gopi tells him to asks for Ranjini's raasi. Ranjini refuses and asks for Gopi's. Finally Gopi gives his raasi and the broker says something about the girl he is to marry must be of a Meenam . Ranjini goes into her room and looks into a book and smiles. Saradha comes there and watches Ranjini for a minute and leaves.

Flashback ends........................................

Karthik brings Gopi to his house and calls everyone out. Saradha and Meena come out and greet Gopi. Gopi distributes gifts. Ranjini comes slowly and greets Gopi and he gives her a gift. Gopi asks about her job in Customs and Ranjini says it is a long story and asks about Gopi's job. Gopi says he has returned for good and when she asks why he says the same thing. Her phone rings and Ranjini goes inside and answers. It is Chandra who wants a disc which is in her drawer. Ranjini tells her boss she will be there shortly. Ranjini then takes the box given by and looks at the saree. Gopi comes to her and asks her if she likes it and Ranjini shyly nods her head (It is all Ranjini's imagination!), . Ranjini comes out and tells everyone she has to go to the office for a while. Gopi is hurt. Saradha asks her to come home early. Ranjini stops and tells Gopi to eat with them and leaves.

Rajagopal returns and is greeted by Gopi. Rajagopal calls Ranjini and Saradha tells him she has gone to the office. Rajagopal tells about hte mapilai he has found. Gopi is shocked but is unable to say anything. Meena nad Karthik are very excited. Saradha tell her husband not to be hasty as they have to ask Ranjini's opinion. Rajagopal says no need as he is doing something good for her and she will notobject. Saradha moves away and stands outside the pooja room and prays. Gopi tells them he has to leave as he has something to do. Gopi leaves the house very sad.

Vasundra is coaching her daughter Madhu who is blind. She teaches her to count steps to each furniture in the house. Grandmother comes there and cries saying she cannot bear to see her grand daughter suffering. Vasundra tells Madhu to practice what has been taught. Vasundra tells her mother not to pity her daughter because she will not be able to take it. She tells her mother that her daughter has been living a normal life like other children. She tells her mother to treat Madthu just like any other girls. THODARUM.

Chandramathi reading papers, her uncle comes and tells her about the Containers auction and they should make preparations for it. Chandra tells her uncle that no one will oppose her and all she has to do is go and pay the money and the contract will ber hers. Kannan tries to warn her about new enemies. Chandra proudly boasts that she has been the queen the last 25 years and anyone who opposes her will meet with death as she will hunt the person down and no one dares to oppose her.

Gopi's brother asks his wife if Gopi has eaten. She tells him Gopi refused food saying he has eaten outside, when he had stayed home all day. Both husband and wife feel sad seeing Gopi sad. SIL tells husband Ranjini may be keeping her love secret just like Gopi is. She tells him that her wedding was stopped once before and feels she could have refused the marriage proposal because she loves Gopi.

SIL says that Gopi had said that Ranjini doesn't know about the proposal brought by Rajagopal. As such, she wants both of them to go to Ranjini's house and propose. They may find out if Ranjini has feelings for Gopi. Chandra drives in her jeep and another car drives infront and stops. Ranjini gets out and sees a man come out, Supni comes from behind and Chandra asks who is the tail. Supni says it is Loganathan's son Kuruvi Kumar. Chandra asks the tail should not wag when the head is there. Kumar says it is the tail that destroyed an empire. Chandra says no one can destroy her empire because she is the best. Supni says that she had lost in the 1000 acre land. Supni says Chandra has to answer for that in court but Chandra says she will see. She tells Supni to take the little guy home and tell him about her. Kumar says because Chandra had cheated them in the 1000 acres matter they have decided to oppose her on the harbor contract. Supni tells Kumar not to oppose Chandra and they leave. Chandra tells Kumar that no one can defeat her and leaves. Next day, Kannan asks Chandra why she looks worried since the night before. Chandra tells Kannan about her meeting with Supni and Kumar who are opposing her in the harbor contract. She sasys the Supni is instigating Kumar and Loganathan to go against her. Kannan asks Chandra if she wants him to get his men to stop them on the way to the auction.

Chandra tells Kannan not to do that because Kumar may come there with his men and then there will be a fight. Ranjini comes in and Chandra tells her about the container yard auction the next day. She informs Ranjini about Supni and Loga who wants to oppose her. Ranjini asks if she wants to defeat them. Chandra asks how and if they can. Ranjini says they should not find new ways to defeat them but use their old ways. Chandra is very happy to hear this and says she understands. Chandra quickly calls Kannan and instructs him (muted dialog). After Kannan leaves, Chandra asks if this is what Ranjini wanted and when Ranjini says it is, Chandra says she knows what is in Ranjini's heart and mind as she sees Ranjini as how she was 25 years ago. Ranjini thanks Chandra for the compliments and tells her she has only now started to follow Chandra's foodsteps. Chandra tells Ranjini to have breakfast with her before they leave for office.

At the container yard, Chandra, Ranjini and Kannan are waiting. Loganathan and his men arrive and greets Chandra saying it is his habit to give respect even to his enemies. Chandra too greets him. Loga says his son has told him about Chandra refusing to listen to him. Chandra asks Loga if he has read his stars(zodiac) that day and Loga replies that whatever he undertakes will be successful since his birth. Ranjini listens quietly. THODARUM.

Chandra comes downstairs to answer the phone. Ranjini quickly takes the CD she requires and quickly come out and turn back inside like she is coming in, and answers the phone. It is a reporter from a leading newspaper and Ranjini tells the reporter that Chandra's business is not going under and that she is not trying to flee the country. She warns the reporter not to print false news as they will take legal action for false news and hangs up. Chandra asks who it was and Ranjini tells Chandra that it is about the IT project that is at a stand still now. Ranjini says it is a big problem that does not seens to go away.

Ranjini asks Chandra why not ask some financers from the north. Chandra says the news about the IT project has appeared in all newspapers and everyone knows about it. Chandra says she will definitely solve this problem because it is her image issue. Chandra asks Ranjini if the media will report about te news they just heard and Ranjini assures her she will not allow it and leaves.

Satia is in Mouna virtham and Madasamy is all happy because he can do anything he wants and cook anything he likes. Sathia writes on a pad and tells him that only his mouth is fasting not his hands and for him to fast with him. Ranjini arrives and is told about Satia fasting. Ranjini tells Satia about the proposal her father brought and how she had shouted at her father for makinghis own decisions. She feels bad as she is not able to agree to his father's proposal. She fears she will somehow blurt out who she is. Satia shows signs not to worry. Ranjini tell him she feels better after talking to him and leaves after giving him the CD that contains names of all the stockholders in the IT business.

Rajagopal goes to Saradha and tells her he feels bad for shouting at Ranjini about the proposal. He feels it would have hurt her feelings. He tells Saradha he was atually angry with the broker who had insulted him saying he does not want his daughter to get married because she is hte one earning. He apologizes to Saradha and thanks her for her help in talking to Ranjini and leaves. After he leaves, Saradha talks to herself saying, man will talk out hteir feelings but women keep everything in their heart and pretend to be happy for others sake.

Madhu, two paatis and manager are playing snake and ladder. Manager tells Madhu to roll the dice and get 3 and she does. The second time he asks for 5 but some other no. comes. Madhu asks if she rolled no. 5 and after a few moments Manager tells her yes and turns the dice. Everyone says Madhu won but Madhu tells them they are lying because they had hesitated before answering and she heard the dice being turned. She tells them she is blind not deaf. She tells them not to treat her different because it is a game and she like to be just like them and play fair. She tells them that her mother had taught her many things and has been her eyes. She says she is happy and wants to be treated the same. Vasundra is hearing this from upstairs. THODARUM,
